Just another antimormon rant by a bigot.
The nephites were a group of peoples who
came to the Americas. They aren't the only people
in the Americas. Race has nothing to with being cursed
by God, meaning God didn't curse the native Americans
to be reddish.

hmmm.. "brother g the Mormon" has it right.
your info is a little wrong.

and DNA stuff does nothing to prove the BOOK OF MORMON wrong.

your native american uncle's skin is not a CURSE. it was a curse to a certain group of people a LONG time ago, and he just happens to descend from some of that group. big deal. I descend from there too, but I don't take offense from the church!

maybe sometime you should be a little more open-minded and go to church or an activity with him once...?? it doesn't mean you have to convert or anything. i've gone to churches with my friends before, and thy've come to mine. you should try it
=]

but hey! what do you really have to lose?? plus, you might find what you want there. who knows?
i sure hope your friend is always being a good example and displaying what our church is about

P.S. WE NEVER BELIEVED THAT BLACK PEOPLE HAD NO SOULS!!!!!!! THAT IS SO CRUEL!!!!!
in 1978 all races were given the right to hold the priesthood. that is all it was about!

If you really are pondering converting, than you should pray, and read the book of mormon yourself.

Your friend didn't explain himself completely. The Book of Mormon tells the story of a civilization in America that started with a family who came over here from Jerusalem. Two of the sons in the family rebelled and became very wicked. The Lord cursed them as he did Cain and his descendents in the Old Testament. However, this cuse was partly symbolic as a symbol that when they were wicked. It doesn't mean at all that Mormons believe native Americans are inferior to White people at all. We don't at all. We are all Children of God, and God is no respecter of Persons. He doesn't love one person more so he gives one black skin, and another white. He loves each of us equally no matter the color of our skin.

There are a couple of problems with this

The first is that the "curse" of dark skin was not a curse at all. The curse was that Laman/Lemuel and their posterity would be separated from the gospel, and from the word of God whether it be from a living prophet or from the scriptures that they had at the time. The mark however was put on the Lamanites, as they are known, in order to distinguish those who had the curse, versus those who were the "chosen" people.

The other problem is that the Book of Mormon chronicles the history of two peoples from about 600 BC to about AD 421 . There is no record of anything that happened between the years of 421 to ~1492, when western Europeans first "discovered America. Therefore, those who we know today as native americans are not necessarily descendants of the Lamanites.

Agree to have the missionaries over. Listen to what they have to say, read the Book of Mormon and then ask God if it's true.

I can tell you right now that she's got some false assumptions and misunderstandings, but her intentions are good.

Don't ask us if you should convert....ask God.

First, read the Book of Mormon, study it, ponder it, and pray about it.

If you then have a testimony that the Book of Mormon, like the
Bible, is another testament of Jesus Christ, and you can accept that Joseph Smith (who translated it)) was a true prophet of God, THEN you sould join our church, and for no other reasons.

You should learn more and then make that decision for yourself. Check out the official website for more info and they even have a link where you can have the missionaries to call on you and personally answer your questions and learn more. Your friend can also tell you more and help you learn so you can make that decision.

Yes, if you want to learn more about the crackpot beliefs of Mormonism you should read a book called 'Under the Banner of Heaven' by Jon Krakauer. It goes into detail about what a con artist Joey Smith was.

They are also taught that black people have no souls. This was removed officially just before the civil rights act went through - a coincidence I'm sure.

DNA has proven that Indians came from Asia, but Mormons don't want to admit it because it means their entire Bible is wrong.
