Spiritually, Jesus is the light of the world, and so are Christians. No, we are not balls of physical fire that rise every morning, "light the world", and set in the evening. It is a metaphor that is to be spiritually understood. On a side note, God WILL be the light of the new Jerusalem . . . but that's not what this verse is speaking about. Christians are the light that shines into the darkness of hopeless false religions.

Suprisingly according to science, there are many many sources of light on Earth. Since all light is is electromagnetic radiation. All living beings produce light in the infra-red.

So even if Jesus was full of it, he was still A light of the world.

The stars, moon, and sun, and earth itself, aslo produce light. However much of the light on the moon does come from the sun.

Jesus Christ as the Light of the world has to do with spiritual issues. The world generally is in darkness as far as spiritual issues are concerned, hence the need for light.

The only one qualified, and with the ability to be the light that permanently bannishes darkness in individual, families, communities and nations,is JESUS CHRIST!!!

It depends on how you look at it. Philosophically, Jesus is the light in a world of darkness. Attributing scientific principles of light to Him is an interesting way to describe such things as dual nature, usefulness, and purpose. However, it falls short (as it does in science) of describing the real thing.

Jhn 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Jhn 11:9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

Jhn 11:10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

It all depends. The light of the physical world is the sun. The light of the spiritual world is the Son.
