99 saturn sc1 3 door coupe with108k for $3500. It has some scratches and the driver's door makes a cracking noise everytime you open it. But i guess no big deal. The only problem the owner told me is about a year ago the car got towed for parking in the wrong place and after that the check engine light was on. They had a mechanic turn it off and it runs fine now.

So any thought?

The rule of mileage is 12,000 or less per year. It sounds okay with me.

My husband had a saturn a couple of years ago. It had to go into the shop and it turns out that right now Saturn parts are the most expensive parts on the market. Keep that in mind for repairs!

Oh yeah...I've never met an old Saturn that didn't leak oil. Not that it's a real problem...just so you know.

The snap noise is probably one of the two door hinges needing some lube or grease. The car is only as good as it was kept and maintained. The owner should allow you to take the car to a good mechanic for a check--if not--don't buy it. Have everything checked--lights, signals, I mean everything and look underneath from a lift...you get what you pay for--buyer beware !!! Scratches can sometimes be buffed out--detail the car if you have extra time and money

saturns are known for engine failure at around 110k -130k...they also have head gasket issues...but you may find a good one you never know...some last longer...

Don't buy cars with scratches. It does not look nice.
