There's something like that in HTML code, but it's pretty pointless, because you can view source from the the bar at the top of your internet browser with drop down folders, begining with the FILE button.

VEIW>VEIW SOURCE.

You can use a javascript to do it, but like others have said its really pointless. The view source option from most web browsers doesn't honor the JS and the source will still be viewable. The only thing you'll wind up doing is making accessibility and usability a nightmare, not to mention ticking off those who use tab browsing (and right click to open links in new tabs).

If you do manage to find a site that's obviously a rip off of yours (and you can prove you have a valid copyright on it) then simply send an e-mail to the owner demanding they take it down. If that doesn't work, get the contact information from www.whois.org and send certified letters and e-mails to them (all contacts - technical, administrative, etc.). Last resort before involving lawyers is to send an e-mail and certified letter to the web hosting company detailing the copyright infringement and demand the site be taken down.

While not needed necessarily, make sure you have a copyright message on all pages plainly viewable to users. You may also want to get a hard copy of the site (print it...have a friend with a Mac and OS X set Safari to print backgrounds, print it to a PDF, and e-mail it to you. Or do multiple screen captures catching all the page. Take that to a notary public and sign and date it in from of them, have two unrelated witnesses sign it, then have it notarized and place it in a safe place (safety deposit if possible). That'll provide you the best chance of winning a lawsuit in court if it came to it.

Disabling right-click isn't going to stop people from going up in the menu bar and viewing the source.

If they're smart enough to know what to do with html source then they know to go up in the menu bar.

An option is to take somebody stealing your layout as a compliment to your design skills and feel good about it. ;-)
