There is no biblical evidence that you are committing a sin. God would undestand the mental state of a person brought to this decision.

I don't think it is a sin but if your friend is considering suicide, you should do what you can to stop him or her. Tell her it is a sin if you think that will stop her, but tell her parents as soon as you possibly can.

If your friend is an adult you should call the police. They will have an officer who can take your friend into custody and make her get the help she needs. Don't worry, they won't come out with guns pointed at her. Suicide may not be a sin, but it is against the law for the purpose of making people get mental help.

Yes. Or, should I say: "Usually". I don't think that a person who is mentally ill can be found completely at fault for this ultimate expression of the sin of pride (suicide) - as I don't think they know what they are doing or that it's always the wrong choice ("Where there is life, there is hope.") Sometimes all the person wants is to escape and turned their back on God. This is where the sin lies...giving up hope.

I don't know if it is a sin to kill yourself but I am pretty sure its a bad thing. I mean your friend should not just give their life away. If your friend is under some kind of pressure, they're alone, no one understands them, someone is just not accepting them, or your friend is just confused in his life or lost - your friend should not give his life away because maybe in the future something will good happen to them. You only get one chance to live so you shouldn't give your life away.

Firstly make sure your friend gets to a counsellor! Secondly taking any life is a sin, including your own. The difference with suicide is that you don't get a chance to repent of your sin, and ask Gods forgiveness, thats why many Christians believe that those who commit suicide are most likely in hell. Of course none of us know for sure, only God is judge.

Suicide is right up there with murder, abortion and euthanasia.. all the killing of a person by their own hand or someone else's. Its not only a sin but most are a sin against society and the family in general.

It is the most selfish act anyone can do! I causes life long pain to the friends and family that is left behind. Killing yourself isn't about "ending your pain" It is about hurting others.

It takes for more guts to face life. And Yes it is a SIN!

Tell your 'friend' WHOEVER HE MIGHT BE that he should think it through before going through with it. You'd better have a really good reason for it like, someone is coming to kill you and you have a grenade and you're hoping to take some of them with you. Or, you're going to die a slow death from cancer and you're just making the process quicker and less painful. Either way, 'your friend' should think this all through because once you, I mean he, is dead that's it forever. There is no second round so you'd better just make the best of this one.

Life is very precious and hard to come by. The chances of you being born was one in trillions. You have this opportunity to prove to God you deserve to live forever.
Joshua in the bible was told to kill the inhabitants of the land they were immoral and vicious. Cruel not only to captives but to each other. None was to survive. But the Gibeonites pretended to be from far away and came and made a covenant with Joshua so that they could survive. Agreeing to be servants and slaves and gather wood and draw water.
They just wanted to survive. God allowed Joshua to be fooled. Why? It says he appreciated their earnest desire to live. Even under bad circumstances.
In a very short time these last days will be over and some will survive to live forever on this paradise earth. Free from wickedness and suffering. If we killed ourselves would we show God our earnest desire to live?
He told Adam "for dust you are and to dust you will return"
It will be as if he was never born. Never existed. So life is a priviledge. We want to cling to life.
2 Timothy 3:1 Know this that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves and lovers of money. self assumeing blasphemers, disobedient to parents unthankful disloyal and not open to any agreement.
So while life now is not easy, by our courage to do the right thing we will be picked to live forever when the wicked are destroyed. Psalms 37:9,10,11,29

The answers given already are accurate. I have included a link to the Catholic Encyclopedia discussing suicide. It's a bit wordy, but interesting.

I don't mean to pry, but this kind of question could mean someone is troubled in some way. You are better able to judge this, of course, being there, but just as an observation, some questions go deeper than they may seem.
