Like Tmax 3200 what is the purpose of having film that fast, does it let you take pictures at night?

High speed film is for low ligh or stopping action

You can take photos at night with any speed film so long as your camera can handle long exposures. What high ISO films do is allow you to take photos in low light that are properly exposed without the need for a tripod. They are also good for stopping action in lower light settings. Please be aware that the higher the ISO, the more film grain you will have.
