"Of all things, good sense is the most fairly distributed: everyone thinks he is so well supplied with it that even those who are the hardest to satisfy in every other respect never desire more of it than they already have."

Everyone thinks he already has plenty of good sense (meaning wisdom), so that even people who want almost everything else don't care about gaining more wisdom. Descartes is joking because we all know there is plenty of foolish thinking, but the people who most need good sense think they already know all there is to know.

Everyone thinks they are above and beyond everyone else. but when the times comes for their egos to step down a notch, they realize they werent "all that" to begin with.
