I'd go for the BMW - fantastic cars and a joy to drive!

if you go for one of the german options then you will have very few problems with rust and if looked after properly (regular services) etc then they will both probably be good for at least 150k, but if you go japanese the rust will start to appear fairly quickly but on the other hand their engines seem to be indestructable. i've always bought german (usually VW) but a year ago i bought a toyota previa cos i needed an 8 seater it's N reg with 125k on the clock when i bought it. i've added another 8.5k onto that and i've only replaced the brake pads and the back box cos the baffles had colapsed

Japanese, they're more reliable and are almost always a great choice. If you want a BMW or Mercedes, it would be better to get new.

Unless you have very deep pockets for maintenance buy the Japanese car.

Go for the Japanese car, much better. the German cars break down a lot and cost a ton to repair

go for the Jap cars, unless you do your own Maintenance. or have warranty on the car, BMW charge £95.00 an hour just to tell you whats wrong....
