Alhumdulliha, what you want to start doing is eat less in the day time and drink less cut your meals into half sometimes even skip a lunch of so yes it is hot in CA but there is always air conditions and fans around. I am sorry for fasting you cannot even chew gum try to brush your teeth 2 or 3 times a day and use mouthwash that does not have any alcohol in it, crest is good no listerine. My Duas are you all.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

Its okay Allah will give you all the inner strength you need to fast! I live in Arizona and the weather over there has heat up as well so i would advise for you to drink or eat plenty before sunset. You can NOT chew gum during fasting so don't. If you do by mistake then your fast will still be valid so dont worry because we all forget. My only tip for you is do your salats and Allah will make your fast easier and bring the rest to you. Good luck and my prayers are for you :) RAMADAN KAREEM!

first of all, aniything from chewing gum to biting nails is not allowed while fasting...well, second, there are many, many muslims out here who will be fasting in the same heat, some being outside in the scorching sun from dawn till dusk..i guess tolerating all these and overcoming these hardships with patience is what Ramadan is all about..i know it takes a lot of will power and determination, but insha Allah, you'll get the hang of it by the second week or so...just make sure you drink plenty of water during Suhur(the morning meal before fajr prayer), and avoid taking any sweets or fried food too, as those tend to make you thirsty...anw, Ramadan Kareem//

chew gums? it will make your body dehydrate more, besides nothing should be ingested or injected intravenously to you. just stay away from heat, reduce or slow down on physical exertion during the day, and california is nothing compared to the mideast country.
Be glad for this month of ramadhan, just as being in touch with spirituality all year round, but you can acquire more benefits here than any month. Like to reduce your abs, this is the time, just practice deep breathing constantly. This is the best month of all for us if only we know why.

well it is always tough, but Allah gives us the strenght and power. btw, dont you know nothing can go insisde your mouth while fasting, which means you cant chew gum! the fasts are going to be longer. i think only 14 hours each day! eat a lot in the morning and drink at least 3 glasses of water! after sunset have a few more glasses of water!

Hi wheee,
You can not put anything in your mouth during fasting so chewing a gum is not allowed. Also chewing a gum will make you thirsty so you will need to drink water which is not allowed during fasting.
In order to keep yourself not thirsty eat sweet things in Suhoor.

Is tough for us all, i live in Georgia and is hot also..but i work everyday in this heat so will be just another hot day to me.. No gum allowed...I have been fasting 2 days a week now before Ramadan to prepare myself...This helps some for my body to get adjusted...I don't think fasting is meant to be real easy.....is a way of bringing you closer to your faith and believing in yourself...Life is full of struggles that we must overcome daily to make ourselves a better person..I have faith in you and your abilities, you will survive and be proud of what you accomplished...Good Luck sis

Salaam,
firstly, chewing gum is not allowed whilst keeping a fast.
Secondly, eat something that will keep your hunger satisfied for longer. I suggest something like porridge oats. Also make sure you drink plenty of water before the time of fast. Try not to drink things like tea, coffee or fizzy drinks as they contain caffeine, water or fresh fruit juice is best.
Good luck, may Allah help us to keep all of the fasts successfully InshaAllah.

Yeah ive heard its real hot there. Gum chewing is not allowed, but i think you could drink water. And plus water can keep you hydrated if the weathers real hot. Good luck on fasting.
