I am going for my license on the 21st of September and I have been practicing parallel parking and my permit book says that you need to be 12 in. or less to the curb and I was just wondering when you guys went if the instructor held you to that or if they just want you to get in the cones and line. I really could use some advice, b/c i am pretty scared and I am having a hard time parking like that without hitting the curb!! Thanks!!

Practice, practice, practice til your test!! Don't worry about being perfect as long as you are within the 12in. If you get 13-14in out, they may deduct points. Talk to the state examiner office or your driver's ed instructor to get what will be the tolerances for errors. Good luck!!

They didn't even make me parallel park for my test. But if they do, then you need to get within 12 inches. If you're 13 or 14 inches away it's probably not a big deal, but if you're 2 feet away you'll fail.

You cannot depend on the tester being lenient. Practice all you can. I took my test years ago and it was 8" back then.
