I am curious how much formula/milk I should be giving my 1 year old. The first 12 months her primary source of food and calories was in formula/milk.

Now that she is older I am trying to move her to 3 meals a day with snacks in between.

Her 3 meals a day are 6-8 oz of milk/forumla with abou 2 oz of solid food and some rice.

Should I have her eat more solid food and less milk? In other words should the amount of milk she is drinking decrease while the amount of solid food increases?

Thanks

My son is 13mo old and I swear by this guide for what to feed and how much.
This is how much she should eat per day:

• 2 to 3 servings dairy (1 serving = ½ cup milk, ½ to 1 oz. cheese, 1/3 to ½ cup yogurt or cottage cheese)
• 4 to 6 servings cereals and other grains (1 serving = ¼ to 1/3 cup cereal, ¼ cup pasta or rice, ¼ to ½ slice bread or bagel)
• ¼ to ½ cup fruit (2oz-4oz)
• ¼ to ½ cup vegetables
• 2 servings protein (1 serving = 2 tablespoons ground or two 1-inch cubes meat, poultry, or fish; 1 egg; ¼ cup tofu or cooked beans; 1 tablespoon smooth peanut butter)
• 3 to 4 oz. juice

When and if you plan to change your child's diet, it can't hurt to check with your doc.

My daughter was born with full head of hair, and never lost any. I cut about an 1.5 off when she was 12 months old, which left it just slightly below her shoulders. Now at 19 months it's down to the middle of her back. We do keep trimming it though, because different parts started growing in a different times, so it's layery (not a word, I know), but backwards almost. It's almost even, but even now she has more coming in on the around the outside. Honestly, I've been putting her hair in a pony tail since she was 4 months old, and I'm kind of sick of doing it everyday. But it's to the point now that I HAVE to do it, or it's in her eyes, or she's eating. And now that the summer is here, putting sunblock on is super pain because it gets all in her hair. Grass is always greener, lol!

At age 1 dr's recommend that kids have 18 oz of milk a day. The lady at the wic office said i give my kid way too much milk & it should be cut down to 2 bottles a day. But thats very tough to do because my daughter is a VERY picky eater. Its hard to get her to eat a lot.

i work at a daycare an used to take care of 6 children 12 -18 months old. they all ate solid foods. for breakfast they usually have a cup of milk with muffins, donuts, or somethin of a sort along with fruit. during lunch we'd have things like meatloaf, bread, fruit, hotdogs, hamburger patties, and milk and for snacks theyd have vanilla wafers, graham crackers, ritz etc. with 100% juice. so if theyre ready for it, then ur kid is too =). im not a mom tho, so i dont know what its like deciding for my child. i give the kids at the daycare the stuff that the state says is safe xdd...

i would decrease the amount of milk you give her to just a few cups a day, along with each meal, biut make sure your kid is eating healthy meals and snacks. i dont recommend limiting how much milk or food she wants to eat/drink because if she want s eat....let her dont deprive them of food or milk, milk is a good source of calcium and vitamins!

At 1 my kids were eating soft food off my plate for most meals and milk inbetween. I know everyone has different oppinions, so I say as long as she is strong, growing, and happy...take ques from her. If she reaches for yer food, give it a try, if not, dont worry too much
