Living within the delusion that there is an all powerful deity watching over you, guiding your steps and working in mysterious ways does have its advantages. But in order to accept this, there is an ever growing mountain of illogicalities that block the light of truth from the believer.

So that’s the trade off is it? If you accept God, you get the benefit of a warm, fuzzy feeling but you willingly live in a reality that just doesn’t make sense.

I once was a Xian. Let me tell you.. the only advantage of being religious is "knowing" that when you die that everything will be okay. You will see your family, and friends. Things will be great. And I've found that being an atheist now... that is the only disadvantage.

Overall: Be an atheist, it rules. As long as you can accept that you almost certainly only get this one life.

Huh? Being a Christian does not mean I am a puppet on God's stage. I think if he guided my steps, my life would have been a lot smoother.

There IS a trade off when you accept Jesus as your personal savior. You are no longer "of the world." You become light in a dark world. You are condemned by those who do not understand. You are ridiculed by those who think they are more intelligent than you.

BUT, I get to live eternally in Christ. I will go to Heaven. I am in the Book of Life, and will spend eternity with my loved ones.

I live in a reality that makes no sense to one who lives "in the world."

I haven't made that trade off. My faith makes sense. I affirm that there is a living God, who is the source, the ultimate "ground of being." I'm not sure which light of truth I'm being blocked from, but I affirm the need for science and scientific fact. I don't base my faith on reading the Bible to understand our origins, or the origins of the earth. The Bible bears witness to the faith of those who came before, and reflects their world and worldview. As for warm, fuzzy feelings, I guess that's what Atheists get from being condescending in R&S?

That's only your biased, unenlightened opinion that believing in God is a delusion. Of course it doesn't make sense to you because you don't want to open your heart to Him.

1 Corinthians 2:14 -- The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

And that "warm, fuzzy feeling" you think it is, is not even close. We are more uplifted and blessed than you could ever imagine. So don't try to trivialize something you don't even understand.

It makes perfect sense! How do you know it is untrue?

It makes far more sense to believe in God than to actually believe that we're all just here by some cosmic boom and that life really has no meaning or purpose... we're all just here. That must be so depressing for those of you who don't believe in God when you're standing next to a loved one in a casket. You believe you will never see them again. That really is such a sad existence.

The reality of God, as revealed in Christ, is the only reality that DOES make sense, Desiree dear. The world's wisdom is foolishness to God.

And yes, there is most certainly a trade-off: all of your pain, fear, guilt, anguish, despair, regret, and sorrow in exchange for peace, joy, fulfillment, boundless love, and eternal life. It is, truly, the deal of a lifetime!

I don't trade off anything! I accept Science and its explanations on how we got to this point (i.e. Big bang and evolution) The difference is that I believe that God is the instigator.

Science itself says that nothing can be in motion unless something else put it in motion, so for the Universe to exist, something existing outside of time and space (i.e. something existing eternally a.k.a. God) had to have instigated it. It had to exist outside of time and space as the Big Bang theory clearly tells us that time itself did not exist before the Big Bang. Without something to instigate the process you ignore the scrientific fact that anything in motion has to be put in motion by something else.

Likewise with life. There is absolutely no scientific basis to assume that life can spontaniously create itself out of non living matter. There had to be something that initiated the process.

God bless.

Dessiree....LOL Having God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit in our life doesn't mean we now have no idea of reality :)

I don't know where you get your ideas from, but, individuals whom are saved and have the Gifts, etc.,. still live among their relatives, friends, work places, schools, etc.,. where many are NOT saved.

It sounds like you are the one having a problem with reality if you think this, lol

May you find Peace and Truth :)

It can be confusing at times; having a relationship with A God, God is so much smarter than us we cant help but get confused. Just spend more ime with Him and He will unconfuse you. Meaning His reality is hard for us to comprehend. Comprende
