This sounds like its your idea, not ours.
We have no mandate to do any such thing.
I have many a male relative who shed blood on the Battlefields of WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam so that all peoples would have their freedom of both speech and religion - I may not agree with a Buddhist, but I would fight for their right to be one or say that they are one.
The World will unite two times, according to Scripture. The First time will be at the appearance of Antichrist, when he comes
disguised and pretending to be Christ.
The Churches will fall all over each other to worship and serve the fake. The world will unite under one Government and one
religion - for those who are deceived and think he is the true Christ, which will be the mass majority.
Then, the true Christ returns to find his
spiritual bride (no gender intended) has bedded down with the wrong husband.
Anyway, for those who are left and not
destroyed, we will be under the one and only Government of Jesus Christ, King and High Priest by the order of Melchesidek.
This world will be run by the King of Kings
and Lord of Lords, and nothing that offends
will remain.

I don't.
The world should unite because we are all human beings (for the most part) and what is beneficial for someone in India as far as things like the environment or human rights is probably going to be good for someone in Queens too. Not behind the belief in one religion.
Of course there should be many different ways to express Christian belief. Just as there should be different ways to express faith or spirituality period, including not feeling the need to express it, or even believe it at all.
People are different, so their beliefs and the expression of them will also be different. It would be strange if they weren't.
Edit:
It doesn't seem to make sense does it? From the time you enter most churches you are told that the "end times" are coming and that you'll probably have to live through the rise of the anti-Christ who'll build a "one-world-religion". On the other hand Christians supposedly are told to go out and create just that. To work tirelessly to build a world where everyone is Christian.
And no. I don't believe that people should unite under MY or anyone elses version of God.

Well, there are ways in which Christians will be more united... but not all that say they are "Christians" really believe in what is written in the Bible, or understand it; therefore, there will be no way to unite them.
On the other hand, you will be surprised, but the Bible tells that all the world will be "united" under one belief, under one religion, but it will be a false religion, promoted by the Antichrist, which most people of the world will believe as a savior (probably he will save the world's economy, for instance). There will be seven years of tribulation. After that, Jesus will come and have the victory.
That time may be soon, since many biblical prophecies have been fulfilled which tell us we are near to that time.

This is the thinking of People today,All Apostates
will join Global Religion (Many ways to God)because of Global Terriorst threat; It will be the
glue for Global Government; It will for 3 and 1/2 yrs
then global Government will destroy it;Not their Relgious Leader ,He has an additional 3 and 1/2 Yrs. The Followers of Jesus Christ will not be among them, because The name of Jesus Christ
brings Seperation, The Way; not "Political Correct to say He is the Living Son of God;People get mad. Satan sure doesn"t like it ,because Jesus ,broke His back at Calvary;

We can only tell the world about the good news of Jesus Christs
birth, crucifixion, burial, and resurrection.
Jesus himself will unite the world when he comes back and rules with a rod of iron.
In that day there will be no more religious tolerance, Christ will be all in all, and the ONLY ONE worshiped on the earth, like it or not.
Sorry, its not my words but his.
Zechariah 14
Revelation 19
and many other places in the bible.
And the divisions in Christianity are from the devil and people not believing the whole bible, not God

Indeed, divisions don't unite ppl, rather divide ppl.
Mark & Avoid them causing divisions: Rom 16:17.
Sides wars have a side effect for both sides: death.
Even God can't be one by division, but by unity.
So law vs law folk with L-w in midst: alienating.
Above such law vs law His Grace is: reconciling.
Beliefs? Believers do as well as devils: James 2:8,19.
They believe there's one God: Law (Phantom Menace).
Sound the alarm, awake the king, kingdom under attack,
from a phantom menace, a "shadow" of things to come.
Come now, let us reason together.
A shadow is a dark version of ppl.
Let there be light, not light + darkness.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

I don't. According to the Bible, the only person who will be able to unite the world under a "one-world religion" will be the anti-Christ.
As for your other assertion, the general consensus among theologians today is that, despite labels, all Christians are the same faith. We have the same core beliefs. Therefore, we already are one.

I tried to go past this question, but my mouse would not work, so I guess I will answer it. Don't expect any great revelation though, just my thoughts. Yes, it does seem like we bicker and divide ourselves. Thank goodness that Jesus is working on all of us to become one, not one religion, as there will always be different types of denominations. We need to come together and know that Jesus died for our sins and to be saved and probably leave it like that. But as humans, we love to discuss and share our opinions. Mine are probably not always right either. The world is never going to be united under one belief of God. It states this in the Bible. "They will know we are Christians by our love for one another". Let us pray that the love of Jesus will fill our hearts full.

Any christian who expects this is deluded. The Bible never speaks to this goal or prophecies of this occurance...not until after the second coming. Read Matt 24. God calls His Children to come out of the Babylon the Great (the City of Confusion) by turning to HIs Word and trusting Him...not some church leader or congregation. Love in Christ, ~J~

Well double D, for my part it's like our society and, government. There are and, is good and, bad in everything.
Our government is divided (Democrats / Republicans) yet
we ARE THE UNITED STATED OF AMERICA. The word of
GOD (Written in the bible) is the only truth. If YOU would read
it and, ask JESUS (The HOLY spirit) to guide you, then YOU
would understand why the bible says (Jesus is the way, the truth and, the life). NO ONE can come to GOD except by him.
It's all called FREE WILL.
