The actions of the Bush administration were well-intentioned, but misguided. Rather than make the US and the rest of the World a safer place, these actions have served as a rallying point for disaffected Moslem youths; a highly effective recruiting campaign for future terrorists!
In addition, Bush chose to act unilaterally and ignored the views of a number of America's traditional allies. He polarised his support by insisting that countries were either "with the US or against them in the war against terror". This was seen as a highly insulting view to adopt by many other countries. To top it all, Bush then decided (again, unilaterally) to invade Iraq, a legitimate sovereign state, on a flimsy and patently untrue pretext. There are no weapons of mass destruction and millions of innocent people are now suffering and dying as a result of the US's actions.
So the facts are that Bush's actions have made the World a LESS safe place and have caused the US to be LESS respected around the World. The only positive thing I can say is that the US is still a democracy and still maintains basic freedom of speech. This means that the truth WILL come out and the policies of future US administrations WILL be different from the present one. I can't say the same for a lot of other countries in the World.

Safer? I would say neither ! Do to the fact you have more of a chance dieing from a drunk driver, a stray gang-bangers bullet or even just drowning in a puddle of water. Then ever being killed in a terrorist action on US soil before or after 9/11. Now that is not to say, if we pull out of Iraq militarily. That those terrorist will not flock here, instead of Iraq. Even then you will be more likely to be murdered by your spouse, your parent, a gang-banger, a drunk-driver or simply cleaning your gun(if you own one). So in essences that is really a non-issue for me locally. Globally, I think the world is not safer! In fact would say the threat has maybe doubled for some of the rest of the world(Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Britain, and some of our smaller military allies). As far as being more respected in the world. I could care less! It might be true, but I care about Americans first and the rest of the world second. The Bush administration was elected to do whats best for America, not the rest of the world. Sometimes in politics, respect is overrated. Also! To achieve this respect is often at the detriment of Americans. That being said, We should have done what Bill Clinton did and circumvent the Constitution and illegally use a defencive organisation(NATO) in the Bosnia millitary action. To carry out the war in Afghanistan, Iraq and the rest of the war on terror. Congress authorized a Declaration of Action(blank check), I believe that Congress is just as liable for us being less or more safe. As well as the way the rest of the world looks at the US. It nice to blame one person, but the Congress more then helped in the areas of your question.
Peace!!! Love!!! Health!!! Harmony!!!

Not if your in reference to NAFTA. The Mexican trucks are to have complete excess to U.S. highways in the next week, last week just in Laredo Texas three trucks were found with drug shipments, one was found with illegal aliens, (several Chinese, Mexicans, and a Salvadorian. One truck stopped for not being able to read or understand English, get this, the Mexican trucking company didn't realize the were supposed to. Doesn't sound safe to me.

I don't know about more respected (and frankly I don't care what the rest of the world thinks about us). But has there been an attack on our soil since 9/11? No there has not, so I'd say that yes we are safer than when Slick-Willy was president. The Bush Admin has stopped two attacks before they could happen. What did Cliton do to protect the U.S.?

You MUST be kidding, right?
Dubya is the most incompetent, most sadistic, most deranged American president of all-time, despite solid competition from the likes of Reagan, Nixon, Trueman and a host of other dipsticks.
