Of course, nutritionally, nothing is better than live vegetables you have just taken from the ground. The longer they are removed from the ground, and the more they are processed, the less nutrition they retain.

If not live, then the next best is raw. After that, frozen is next best, providing the veggies weren't abused by salt, sugar, butter, or chemicals. Canned vegetables probably have the least amount of nutrition.

During the winter, when the price of many fresh vegetables is sky-high, I have no guilt in saving some money by occasionally buying frozen.

If they were flash frozen and NOT dethawed and refrozen, then they preserve their phytochemicals;
Those little ice crystals you see on frozen food usually means that it , at least, partly dethawed during transportation and was then re -frozen, so choose a different one. Most dethawing happens once the food reaches it's destinations, as market employees are less motivated by any individual product's quality. The manufacturers do everything possible to make sure temperatures are kept constant during transport, but can't make up for a lazy stock boy.
Most phytochemicals are actually killed by the cook: overcooking or boiling veggies wipes out half of their phytochemical potency.

As soon as a fruit or vegetable is picked, it starts losing vitamins so fresh is always better but I think most frozen vegetables are fairly good. Where I live, most produce is imported so we never get very fresh anyway and might as well eat frozen.

Actualy, they are MORE healthy and i'll tell you why.

Most "fresh" veggies were picked waaay before htey were ready so they lose the nutritinal value. Simple.

Oh, aaaandd, frozen veggies are almost always picked than frozen so htey retain more of the nutritional value.

Yes indeed. Easier to cook too because they're washed and ready to heat. But fresh maybe tastes better. Both nutritious.
