I want to walk by and look at the lincoln memorial/reflecting pool, ellipse, washington monument, united states capital building, jefferson memorial, white house etc. Are dogs aloud on the paths/sidewalks/lawns by those monuments? I don't want to go into any of them, just walk infront & take some pictures. Will I be stopped for havig my dog with me?

Yes, dogs are allowed.

They must be leashed.

The owners must clean up after them.

Walking one's pet on the mall, and also around the Tidal Basin is a great DC Activity.

Getting there might be a bit of a challenge - since you will have to drive - dogs cannot go on metro.

Here's a great walk for you. Start at the Washington Monument grounds, walk down the hill toward the Lincoln Memorial. Visit the WWII memorial, then wander through Constitution Gardens (on your right) before rejoining the reflecting pool. Don't let pooch bother the ducks too much. Continue on down to the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial (right) and Korean War Memorial (left). At the end of this you find yourself at the Lincoln Memorial. Since you have the dog with you, you probably won't be able to go up and see where Martin Luther King stood to give his "I Have a Dream" speech, but you could walk around the memorial, and see the great view looking back at the Capitol/Washington Monument.

Next continue south and cross over the road, to go toward the Tidal Basin. On this side of the Tidal Basin is the FDR memorial - a great memorial with four "Rooms." The first one, in particular, is full of interesting art. Find FDR's Scottie dog and get a pic of your dog sitting with him. :-) Then proceed clockwise (to your left) around the Tidal Basin, in the shade of the famous cherry trees, possibly visiting the ancient stone lantern where the Cherry Blossom Festival is started every year. You'll eventually view, and get to the Jefferson Memorial. This is a great walk, and you and your dog will have a great walk.

Monuments and memorials, modern neighbourhoods, true local flavoring this is what Washington, DC is; a place unlike any; the same as this web site hotelbye . Washington it's your home away from home with free museums and America's front yard. Washington is recognized around the globe as a symbol of the United States. Here, the area you can't miss may be the Capitol. Capitol could be the seat of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The large dome, based on the dome of St. Peter's in Rome, stands out most importantly different Washington buildings. Like Washington it self, the developing has developed over time since the central portion was built between 1793 and 1812. The final addition, in 1958-62, increased the key façade where presidents get the oath. On another side, a marble terrace presents beautiful views on the mall and the city. The interior is resplendent with frescoes, reliefs, and paintings, especially the rotunda beneath the great cast-iron dome with a roof painting by Constantino Brumidi and enormous paintings of scenes from American record on the walls.

LEASHED dogs are allowed. Hope it's a large dog, otherwise the geese who have taken over the reflecting pool will have it for a snack.

As long as your dog is leached you should be fine. You should also have a supply of bags on hand to pick up any dog dirt left behind.
