I am purchasing a ragdoll and so many people have told me that my house will smell and be covered in fur? I'm now worried? Do Ragdoll shed a lot?

Any longhaired cat will shed very long fur, both the undercoat and the guard hairs. You can keep it under control by brushing every day, and putting a folded blanket or towel down on the couch so they sleep on that instead of the other part of the furniture. It'll be harder to get out of the rug though.

Smell isn't a problem if you scoop the box any time you see the surface has been disturbed. Don't put it into your kitchen garbage, it'll only stink there. I use an empty plastic type catfood bag and when I get it semi full (we have 5 cats and one box, it gets full daily) I take it outside and dump it into the dumpster out there. By keeping on top of any poop and pee, you eliminate odors from the house. We've had people surprised that we even HAVE cats, they don't smell them, by us using this method.

I do not have a ragdoll but, My house is covered with alot of cat fur and I brush daily and sometimes 2x a day. I have pretty much given up (I still brush) and I just consider cat hair a tasty food additive.

Yes, Ragdolls do shed a lot because they are long
haired cats. If you don't want much shedding consider
a short hair bread of cat. Kiki, my Burmese, is a short
haired cat. Kiki sheds so little you don't even see it.
Short haired cats are low maintenance. Long haired cats
need lots of brushing & combing to remove the hair
which would otherwise be all over the house. Ragdolls
are a very attractive cat which are high maintenance in
reguard to shedding.

Any animal will cause you to have hair in your house that is why you need to brush your pet daily, sometimes twice daily and vaccum regularly.
