MEXICO CITY (AP) - President Felipe Calderon blasted the United States on Sunday for immigration policies that have divided families and slowed the amount of money sent home by Mexicans living north of the border. The criticism earned Calderon a standing ovation during his first state-of-the nation address. «We strongly protest the unilateral measures taken by the U.S. Congress and government that have only persecuted and exacerbated the mistreatment of Mexican undocumented workers,» he said. «The insensitivity toward those who support the U.S. economy and society has only served as an impetus to reinforce the battle ... for their rights. He also reached out to the millions of Mexicans living in the United States, many illegally, saying: «Mexico does not end at its borders. Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico.

When Mexico stops deporting its own illegals and stops denying foreigners rights in the country, there's something to talk about. Its just anti-American hypocrisy!
“And slowed the amount of money sent home by Mexicans living north of the border”.
That pretty much says it all-we certainly know what his priorities are, and they are not divided families or the mistreatment of illegals...

How about where there is a Guatemalan there is Guatemala?
Mexico should practice what it thinks is such a good idea south of its own border.

The President of Mexico is worried because he can't control the crime and problems in Mexico. There should have been immigration policies set up between the USA and Mexico many years ago. If the President of Mexico took an interested in the people in his country, the crime, and not so much how the people working in the US were helping his country, this problem could have been resolved long ago. There is more crime in Mexico than ever before, so it's not just to work to support the family by coming to the US, they also want to get away from the crime that their government is allowing.
It won't be to many years from now everyone will need to go back to school, the US will be the new Mexico, look around at how many places Spanish is spoken, people working at different locations have Spanish names. You can't understand them, but soon they won't understand you because Spanish will be the language spoken everywhere

Even Fox was very obnoxious in his statements about illegal immigration and how the USA according to him has no right to enforce it's own laws. No wonder so many people coming here thinking they are entitled to do whatever they want, they think the USA is heaven for good Mexicans or something. If you can get out of Mexico you deserve everthing the American tax dollars can buy for you. He needs a reality check and so do all pro illegal immigration supporters. As far as I'm concerned they should go on strike and everybodys who is on strike can be round up and shipped out of the country. Trying to break the back of legal immigrants and legal citizens by going on strike. Thats the way they roll. Give some people an inch, they want a mile.

I feel the Mexican government would rather ship their people here than fix the problems in their own country that are forcing people to flee. What's going on now is dividing Mexican families when some flee here while leaving loved ones behind.
If the Mexican government truly cared about its people it would be taking steps to make sure their people had the resources there to live productive, healthy, happy lives. It is possible but not without reform in Mexico.

Mexico has no right to say anything about the USA, they have no right to break into this country illegally and steal from us and the government.
The USA has enough Jobs, welfare, and other things for legal people, but when illegal people come here, they take what is for our own legal people, that makes less for the rest of us, which is stealing from the American people.
I really hope the undercover police step up their investigations and lets get companies raided that hire them, also investigate landlords, shut them down who rent to them.
If nobody rents to an illegal or gives them a job, then they won't be able to live a life here and more and more of them keep coming illegally.
I don't know why immigration doesn't just drive around and pick them all up, you know who they are, they hang out at Hardware stores, and pick up the people hiring them too.

Maybe if the President of Mexico offered a better quality of life for the people there....they wouldn't cross over the border to the U.S.

The Mexican President likes the idea of Mexicans coming to the U.S. to work and collect free services. Then they can send most of the money they make back to Mexico relatives. Families don't need to be divided. They can go back to Mexico and live as a family.

Calderon doesn't care about these people. They are only a pressure relief value for the problems in Mexico.

I have been wondering why Mexicans don't just start a civil war and take their country back.
We have become Mexico's welfare system. Of course their President doesn't want to lose that. It's sick when a President is encouraging his people to leave their own country. He's in the for the money. Nothing more.

I support increasing immigration quotas to come to the United States, both for Mexicans and lots of other nationalities. On the other hand, given the way the Mexican government treats Guatemalans who sneak into Mexico, I think this statement by Calderon is very hypercritical.
