Yes, sometimes, just as it hurts an obedient child when a parent devotes attention to a disobedient one (the prodigal son story). I accept that my pride is the problem not God but it is a struggle sometimes to accept the reality of unconditional love really means.

I find it helps to remember that just because he loves us the same doesn't mean that he rewards us the same. In the prodigal son story, the father reminds the son that because of his obedience, everything that the father had was already his and that he had always been with his father. In this respect I am thankful that God loves us equally because I fall somewhere between "big sinner" and "saint"...where, ???...that's doesn't sound like a fun way to live. I'm grateful that my Father will forgive me when I make mistakes and I have the benefit of knowing him and knowing how to store up riches in his kingdom.

That sounds really nice, but I know as a follower of God that this is as far from the truth as possible. What really hurts is that, that is the biggest lie of human history. I have seen the swift hand of discipline used on many of people. I'm sorry to tell you this, but god does play favorites all the time. He plays with us all the time, he chooses one side and then if they don't completely agree with Him, then he finds someone or some group that will agree with him completely. Why do you think wars happen. It's not completely the fault of man. God has always had a tendency of testing people. In the Bible God has people sending their children to him as sacrifice. He has fathers striking their sons and back and forth. He has brothers fighting over birth rights. So as you can see, God does have preferences. The real question is, are you on His good side? The Christian faith is breaking down, people are no longer faithful to God or themselves and soon even the Christians will find themselves forsaken if that hasn't already happen. I know personally that I'm on the right side for now. I am not speaking out of hate, but from experience.

Pride may be a problem we need to abolish in this life. God is love not pride.

I think it has to do with spiritual material. A highly spiritual person will be happy to see others happy. Someone from the organized religion who has failed to extract the spirituality from it may have his Ego hurt seeing God loves all!

Why would it hurt our pride? I guess you are not a parent. We love our children the same, not one over the other.

No. God prefers people who do much good deeds than those who do much bad deeds.

^ If that was the case all muslims/jews/christians go heaven. So your statement is utterly incorrect.

No, not at all. God loves us all- faults included. Sometimes it seems a bit unfair that He may love a criminal as much as He loves me, but only He knows what's in our hearts.

I don't believe in god but my understanding is that he sends you to burn in hell for all eternity if you don't worship him.

Doesn't sound to cool to me.

Well that lie smells of smoke.

Perhaps it hurts your feeling that it is untrue.
