No, it's not required if you have a good credit rating/score. I was once told, that your credit is just that, yours. It's what you've earned; therefore, should not be attached to annual nor activation fees. Try to hold out, increase your rating/score, and soon you'll be offered cards with no fees and reasonable percentage rates as well!

Before accepting and activating that card, read thru all the small print very carefully. Some cards that require annual fees and activation fees, also have monthly fees. The small credit limit is immediately eaten up with fees -- sometimes to the point of putting you over limit.

You may want to look around for a better credit card offer. There are all kinds of terms available, even if you have very little credit history.

No this is not the same for all cards. Some cards do not have annual fees or activation fees. You have to make sure to read the disclosure information that states the terms and conditions of the card. If it has an annual fee, then you probably should pass it by because you would have to pay it whether you use the card or not.

No its not the same for every card but it is common on a lot of cards it depend on the kind of credit card you get and the credit you have and the offer for instance i'm getting a secured credit card from my bank and this credit card is $30.00 a year but its to help me establish credit plus i must have a separate saving for the amount i want on the credit card BUT be careful of the those credit cards that come in the MAIL some are scams it better if your not sure to check with your bank about a credit card that's safe and with minimum fees some offer free annual as well . I hope this help i received this info from the bank so its accurate

No. Read a lot of leaflets and read the small print. Also, get friends to recommend a good card to you. I've never paid my company a penny other than what I have spent on the card.
