Ive read that this could be a pinched nerve... but i have also experienced strange hand cramps for about 5 years now.. Once or twice a week or so my hands will get stuck in certain positions.. like holding a pencil or glass of water. I've read that this is a symptom of MS.. could my pinky going numb also be a sign.. or are the two unrelated.? I would go to the doctor ... but im 21 and not insured at the moment.. is this serious enough to go without insurance??

it sounds as though you are deeply concerned. If this is the case get a checkup from a medical doctor to ease your worries. It may be money out of the pocket, but it's worth it to know what is going on. It does sound like a pinched nerve. You might want to try soaking your hands in hot water with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts every evening. Afterwards massage an analgesic cream. This will help relax the muscles around the nerves.

It certainly could be a pinched nerve, or something else. How long has this lasted? If it has been there for a while then it is probably worth a trip to the doctor, or if it persists for a while then you should also go to the doctor. I know how horrible it is to go to the doctor without insurance, but is your health really worth risking? Good luck.

About five years ago my finger on my left hand would go numb and my i had a strange tingling sensation up to my elbow, i consulted a doctor, they sent me for test and I what was called Ulnar Myopothy (sp). It was explained to me that the nerve in my arm had become compressed and needed to be released. The did a small surgery on my arm and it has never felt. Still no problems after all this time.
