Me and my best guy friend, both like each other, and we both know we like each other. We are in 8th grade. We both want to go out, yet we don't because we are such good friends. Because its not like we are going to being going out forever. We will eventually break up and we wouldn't be as good as friends as before. He is my GREATEST guy friend. Its too much of a risk. Yet i still like him. It really stinks. what should we do? what should i do? He told me he wants to ask me out, but we are just too good of friends...

Of course there's the risk that you'll go out, break up, and be unable to save the friendship. But there's also the risk that denying your mutual wish to go out will strain the friendship. Plus you're both 13 and will go through a lot of personality and other changes in the next 5 years, there's a good chance you'll drift apart.

So this great friendship is fragile, no matter how you handle it. The best chance of remaining friends is to respect each other and do what feels right. Maybe that's dating.

I've been in that situation before, you've just gotta go for it.
