old superstitions. Of what value is a religion that tells people what they already know instinctively?

You need to read up on your history.
There are plenty of cases down through history of when people clearly did not know right from wrong. (I.e. Roman Colisseum, Inquisition, The Crusades, The Jihads, The Soviet purges and gulags, The Holocaust, slavery.) These people all thought they were doing right and many thought they were doing the work of God, but were clearly wrong.

The human race is brutal, cruel, and helpless and left to it's own devices...is hopelessly lost without God.

I agree, but not to certain religions being just old superstitions. I give everyone the right to be who they are and believe what they want to believe. I think if someone truly believes that they can be saved, then they will be. Just like you said, I think it's wrong for people to try to insult other people and judge other people by religious standards.

The only thing that will save someone in the end, is their own belief in a higher power, not to the man-made bible or religions.

If everybody knew right from wrong instinctively then why are the prisons full? I agree with you up to a point but it takes a faith in a Supreme Being...God... to make sure that there is an impetus in the heart to keep on the straight and narrow despite what a person knows instinctively.

Who decides what is right, or wrong?
Its not known naturally.
You're fooling yourself if you think that.
Someone with the proper authority must inform humankind what is to be considered right, or wrong.
Who has that authority?
You're not going to decide for me.
Agreed, a religion of 'old superstition' shouldn't decide either.
However, it seems logical that our Maker could have some insight on this subject.
Let's give him a listening ear.
You want to call that religion?
OK

Some people doubt their instincts. for example, a guy is playing roulette, and his "instinct" tells him to play 21, but then he loses. He then starts to doubt what his God-given morals tell him to do. Religion gives us a written moral code to look to in times of crisis.

And by the way, not ALL religions are superstitious.

We know what is right and wrong by law. If we had no law then you can rest assured that all would be right in their own mind. Every one would do right by their own counsel.
The laws God set down were to let us know the right from the wrong.
The religions of the world have many flaws, but the God of Abraham, Israel, and King David is not flawed. His salvation isn't about being right or wrong but about faith, and working to do right rather than wrong.

Morality is based on common sense and history reveals that morality based on absolutes is not specific to any religion. So no religion has a monopoly on morality.

Religion is all about maintaining the power, wealth and prestige of the religious leaders, and moral commandments are part of the marketing strategy.

These "old superstitions" as found in the Testament of Jesus Christ, and in the Old Testament, can lead you down the winding road to eternal paradise. Don't throw away the gift of your soul so willingly.
