Like say if you were to get into a bar fight with a group of drunks that disrespect your girl. I'm not a drinker so I'll always be sober.

There isn't one!

It's not the movies, and few people who have to seriously engage more than one assailant come out of it unscathed. If you are facing three or four people and they're not assualting you but simply disrespecting your girl, then do the adult and smart thing and LEAVE.

Any experienced martial artist would tell you NOT to fight in such circumstances unless you are given absolutely no choice. If you are given absolutely no choice, then expect to end up very injured by the end of it, if you're still standing at all.

It really doesn't matter what martial art you take up, all will teach you something valuable and any true art will be able to work with you no matter what your physical stature or limitations.

The most important thing is not the style/discipline, it's finding an instructor/s you trust, a group of students you actually look forward to training with, and a program that fits within your financial and schedule limitations.

Check out the schools in your are - irrespective of the style. Talk with the instructor/s and students. Check out a few classes. You'll know which one is right for you.

Confuse by your avatar. No offense, but are you a boy or a girl, or both? Girls should refrain from fighting guys, especially when alcohol is involved.

In any case, if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be fighting. Very few arts, if any, are good 'martial art forms for taking on multiple opponents'.

If two heads are netter than one, don't you think that four fists are better than your two?

running.....being able to escape because the odds are stacked way against you. even if you are a more skilled fighter than the others if one of two grabs you the others can proceed in attacking you in any way they want to

with that being said if you absolutely have to, for some reason you are surrounded or cant run then any art that uses fast powerful blows can help you have enough time to escape like boxing/ muay thai...like a strong punch to the nose or throat on a knee to the groin(though may not totally disable an attacker) it can distract them enough to be able to leave

krav maga also focuses on self defense especially against armed people and multiple attackers. which is a modified martial art from many other arts ultizing "no holds barred" tatics such as eye gouges, improvised weapons, groin attacks etc...to win. if you life is in dangered especially against multiple people dont think you have to fight fair use anything you can to get out alive.

however if some drunk people just "disrespected" your girl by calling her a name then thats not a good reason to fight they're drunk and being stupid, now if they attacked you and your girl hey you gotta keep you and your loved ones protected.

anyways long story short the best defense against multiple attackers is to not be in that situation in the 1st place if possible, if needed you can use any practical martial art and modify it yourself to fight(for instance you learn to knee in muay thai but its against rules to knee to the groin. in a real fight you still know how to knee and it wouldnt take much thought to modify it aim a lil lower and strike them in the groin), or learning a self defense system such as krav maga will assist you too

+1 on running if possible. We train fighting multiple opponents in Wing Chun. Once you get used to 2 people attacking you, you just add more and the fun increases :)
