It took me three days to find peace with God. I was surprised, and even frightened when I realized that we can't just say God forgive me and, poof, be forgiven. It don't always work that way folks.I wish it did, but when we repent we have to really mean it.Would you have a testimony that would support this as well?

As a teenager I always imagined dying like so many do in a car wreck.I figured that I would go ahead and have my fun and as I was slipping away I would just asked God to forgive me, and find myself in heaven.I know that there might be that exception, but don't bet your salvation on it.

I think that if I were to repent before I died, I would mean it. More than likely, I will not though. Faith is not like an on/off switch like so many Christians believe.. I tried to reunite with Christianity and it did not work.. When I asked for assistance people simply told me that God will choose the right time.. How is that for irony? So if I was willing to give up everything, put my trust in God and the Bible but received no feedback in the slightest manner I was expected to somehow force my mindset to believing when everything I tried failed.. Not really my fault if you think about it, God just was not there for me.

Every day God reveals something else I need to repent of. I am a work in progress and will always be able to grow closer. But to do so I have to die to the flesh daily. Thank you God for your mercy and grace.

I kept thinking that way until a few years ago when I went to the altar and told God "You win !Take all of me" and I realized that holding back on one sin lead to adding more sins and more distance from God, and I caouldn't stand to live like that any more.

i think that's why a lot of people here ask questions along the lines of 'so, if a murderer repents just before he gets the chair, he goes to heaven?' maybe they're checking to see if it will work for them...i guess some folks might think it's a workable plan...but imagine planning to repent on wednesday and getting hit by a bus on tuesday-D'OH!

True repentance is evidenced by the person working towards or even stopping doing the thing which required the asking of forgiveness.

For example:
The man who is married to a drunk. She promises over and over to stop, and that she is sorry, yet continues repeatedly getting drunk. The apology means nothing if the behavior continues.

I did! It was called alcoholism.

A couple of days ago I woke up and God was sharing something with me. He began dealing with me about something I struggle with since I have been free from alcohol.
I have been praying for God to remove this from me, I have begged God to remove this from me.
As I awoke, God took me into Egypt, through the desert for 40 years, then into Canaan.
I asked LORD what does this mean? He said, Canaan is not Heaven, you can have your Canaan now. Jesus said we could have life more abundantly.
When the children of Israel went into Canaan THEY had to fight their enemies. As long as they were faithful to me I gave them strength over every enemy. As long as they had the will to fight I gave them strength over every enemy.
Jim, you are going to have to fight this battle, (anger is my weakness) I will not remove this from your life, you must fight it. As long as you remain faithful I will give you the strength you need to overcome it. Live in Canaan, live the abundant life, stop allowing anger to hurt your testimony and bring guilt and condemnation. I will give you the strength you need.

I have lived with that certain Little thing Brother Don.
I hope this helped someone.

Yes, I do; I was terribly unkind to a friend when I was about 6 years old and it has haunted me my whole life. I would give anything to find her today and beg her forgiveness.
