well i gotta go hit the head and i gotta go pee really bad you really shouldnt say in front of company because they may take offense to that. so in a way that is kind of rude.... maybe he could say excuse me, i have to go the restroom.

Tell him when he is not in your company that it's ok to use these phrases (which I don't think are really rude), and make it clear that when he is around you you don't feel comfortable hearing that. That way you two can reach a compromise. Anyways I've gotta go, I need a p**s!

Well around your friends, I guess it's ok. I mean when you gotta go you gotta go. Can't just stand there trying to say something polite. I think they're fine and kinda funny lol. I think a simple "excuse me" or "Be right back" is fine too.

Er, I don't really see the problem with those phrases, especially since it's around friends and you're in your 20's. I can understand if you are around your parents or at a formal event, but at regular social events, what's the big deal? It's a silly thing to get upset over.

I haven't heard the first one before, but I don't think the 2nd and 3rd sounds too informal for friends.

The last one, maybe, depending on how close the friends are.

If you really really want an alternative maybe saying "I've got to use the bathroom" is better because it doesn't refer to the toilet itself?
Or "the little boys room". Informal, but not crude.

What the heck is wrong with "I'm going to the toilet. Toilet is a perfectly respectable word, no different from 'washroom'. Or simply say "Well, excuse me, I'll be back in a few minutes". Who is so dumb that they're going to ask "Oh, where are ya going?"

The word toilet is used in many countries. They do not use bathroom. Some use water closet. If he just quietly excused himself he would be fine.

I've never heard the first one, but I think those can come across a bit crude, especially the last one (by specifically mentioning "pee").

I'd just use "excuse me, nature calls" or "excuse me, i need the restroom". I wouldn't mention specifically what bodily function I needed to perform. :P

There are more polite ways to say it. At least he doesn't say "drain the lizard". I'd suggest he just say "Excuse me for a moment. I'll be right back". . Cause he certainly can't say he needs to "freshen up" or "powder his nose".

How about using "Nature calls" , it sounds less "rude" because youre not directly referring to what your gonna do, even though its clear enough that your going to use the toilet.
