To justify the killing, religious activists have given us the concept of a "just" war. Unfortunately, those who oppose war seldom debate the matter of justice: facts and logic. Facts are hidden or falsified and the logic is flawed.

We should take a lesson from Karl Rove (a relative?).
(1) Know your market, mostly the 50% of the voters with below-average intelligence.
(2) Develope a short, simple message.
(3) Stay on message. Don't get distracted.

In the case of Iraq, the message reads:
(1) Iraq cannot survive for structural reason: The Shi'ites will never give a drop of oil to the Sunnis and the Sunnis will never pay a shekel of tax to a Shi'ite government.

(2) No possibility of reconciliation implies no need for a surge: Get our guys out of combat, but not out of Iraq.

I have a more detailed, 2-page paper in MS Word format which I will send to those who are brave enough to share their email address.

Religious activists should be brave enough to seek justice when their fellow citizens are dying every day in a war they have approved with only false facts and flawed logic.

Fundementalists OR terrorists there is no differance at one time had a religion whos purpose it was to bring a person closer to the trancendent. It opened up the worshiper to a force bigger then themselves. IT worked. The world however has grown. the old metaphors no longer work. So the book has been tranformed into history and law. THe result is what we have in the middle east. No inner movement no inner search, so the fanatic instead of changing himself the true purpose of religion, chooses instead to change the world.
The result is what we have.
There is no logic of God. The true seaker of God knows that he does not know. He cannot Know. He seeks to change himself
Despite the fanatics and the press there are many who still do that.

Because, in their twisted minds, killing people who don't believe exactly the same thing you do is ok.

Sadly it has been this way throughout human history:

In the first crusade, Christians killed tens of thousands of people they called "infidels". The Children's Crusade (1212) caused the deaths of nearly 50,000 children. Preachers sentenced to death and executed thousands during the Inquisition (1233-1834) for heresy and witchcraft. There were the Salem witch trials (1692) in America. The 17th Century Thirty Years War (Catholics v. protestants) wiped out tens of millions in Europe. In the Taiping Rebellion in China in the 1850's a Christian cult started a war that resulted in the slaughter of twenty million people. In the Holocaust six million Jews were murdered. Muslims and Christians in Bosnia reached a death toll of over 250,000.

See what I mean?

I would say that it is because religious activists, the people who are most dogmatic in their beliefs, can not tolerate differences in others. In particular, some religions sanction the killing of non-believers.

The puritans believed they were doing God's work by suffering not their witches to live.

However, if you notice, the religions that tend to do the most killing, it is these same religions that strongly restrict sex.

If I couldn't have sex, I'd be getting pretty upset and violent pretty quickly.

Some activists do, most don't; and any and all can claim they're following God's will, etc. Obviously they are not following anything but their own sick needs to inflict torture and pain and death, God does not approve, condone or in any way give His blessing to any such acitivites or the taking of his name to promote such abominations.

They're just following their own logic not God's.

To kill is not of God. Jesus said to love your enemies. Those who claim they are doing God's will by killing are not killing for the God of Creation, but for the God of this world, the devil.

Good question! Why not ask your fellow Muslims who use strap-on bombs, and fly planes into buildings shouting "allah is great!" to kill so many innocents?
