If you ask they will numb you. Getting braces on hurts for just a second and then you can barely feel it. When you get the tightened it will hurt due to all of the bones moving together.
I would take an Advil or any other pain pill before I go to the Orthodontist and take one when you get home.
Good Luck with your braces

No, your mouth is not numbed for braces to be put on. I have officially 3 days until mines are put on. What was told to me by my orthodontist is that no numbing down will be done and that the procedure of putting them on doesn't hurt but after a couple of hours the soreness starts and your teeth could ache. This can go on for a week. The part that really hurts is having the spacers put in.

No they don't num your mouth because it doesn't hurt they use a piece to keep your mouth open...they put the glue on your teeth the set the braces on its painless and simple...but your teeth will be sore for a few days after...

Hi,
No they do not numb your mouth for braces. It is painless. They will put something that will keep your mouth open around your mouth and that can be uncomfortable, but just don't focus on it and breathe through your nose and you will be fine. Towards the end, there is some pressure, but that is it. Good luck :)

it doesnt hurt when they put the squares but when you get the wire it hurts and when they tighten the wire too. and they never numb your mouth.
