Having two AntiVirus programs active at the same time is not a good idea.

Why not? I'm glad you asked:
How would you like to have two coaches bugging you whenever you try something and they don't approve 100% of your actions?

I thought so, NFG, but here is a suggestion,
Install one, run with it for a week or so, then remove it and install the other. After you have determined which you prefer, go for it.

I have done this and I found McAfee's warning bar very neat, the software was good, period.

So why did I install Norton AntiVirus 2007?
Well, I had upgraded to a new comp and tried to install McAfee's, Lo and Behold, the McAfee VirusScan Plus was not Vista ready and they would not give me a free upgrade. The McAfee was only three months in use.

I installed Norton (Symantec), and when the software realized that I had Vista, it automatically installed the upgraded version (Vista) without me doing anything more, (that's what I call efficiency and McAfee be damned.
;-)

Not a good idea to have two antivirus programs. McAfee and Norton are both good. Choose one and use it to its fullest.

Two AV programs will conflict with each other and cause you much aggravation. I found that out the hard way.

Antivirus programs fight each other when running more than one. Just run one of them.

You can use multiple anti-spyware programs though.

You need to use one or the other.
Both are good.
Both are resource hogs, but worth the slight lag at bootup.
Your choice.

They don't play well together, and removing either of them completely is a challenge...good luck.

you have to have one or the other, not both, it will cause very bad problems, they will conflict and lock up your computer's operating system
