you didnt gain it overnight so dont expect to lose it fast.
its healthy to lose 1-2lbs of fat a week - if you are losing more its not fat you are losing but rather water weight and muscle which also means slowing down metabolism and gaining it all back later (which is what crash dieting does)
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio is the only fat burning exercise and burns fat all over your body (running, jogging, swimming, spinning, elliptical etc) 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), weight training a few days a week but never work on the same muscle group two days in a row (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I can relate to your situation. When I was a senior in high school, I was 5'8" and around 220. I didn't like it too much either. What I did was start getting up an extra 30 minutes early everyday before school and started either walking, jogging when I could, riding a bike, using the cross country machine my parents had - anything to start sweating and raise my heart rate. This was around October. I stopped drinking soda (for the most part - I still love Mountain Dew...) and just watched what I ate. I didn't go completely health crazy on the food, but I layed off the candy and desserts and didn't stuff myself at meals. By the time I graduated I was around 180 and felt great. Sometimes it was really tough to get out of bed or pass up stuff I know was bad, sometimes I gave in. But in the end I focussed on what I wanted to accomplish and it happened. I started doing some weights after I lost most of the weight I wanted to lose. I'm sure most people would advise you to weight train along with the cardio, and that's fine. I probably should have. I just took it one step at a time. There's no short cut. Just because you don't loose it all in a month doesn't mean it's not worth it. People will notice when you start loosing the weight and you will start feeling so much better. Work at it and it will happen. Good luck!

Don't try to do it all at once! You'll burn yourself out and make it much harder to lose weight. I dont know about your present lifestyle, but you might want to begin with what you eat: you're not going to do yourself any good if you subsist on a diet of big macs and the like while you work out like crazy. I'd recommend lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, make sure you get all the vitamins and etc you'll need. You may need to work on your eating habits, as well. Do you eat out of boredom, or for an emotional self-medication?
You can't forget physical activity, either. Start out small if you're not active: go for a walk around the block one day. Go around twice the next day, etc. Start out small, and build from there! Another really important thing to keep in mind is that you're 14, and you've got lots of time to shape yourself the way you want to be....I weighed a bit more than that when I was your age, and it really sucked. It took me until i was 19-20 to finally start working on it. Take your time on this, and give yourself goals and benchmarks to keep yourself motivated. Most importantly, make it FUN! I ride my bicycle everywhere now, because its so much fun I don't really notice I'm getting a workout as well. Stuff like that might work for you.
Above all, don't lose faith in yourself when you don't look exactly the way you want to in 6 months...this is a process, but one that you CAN do and WILL make you look and feel lots better. YOU CAN DO IT!!

There is no safe healthy way to lose a lot of weight fast. Your best bet is to change your diet and add more exercise to your life. Some people find that cutting out sodas, fast food, and cutting back on the carbs helps in losing weight. But you need to talk to your parents and your doctor because rapid weight loss can hurt your health as well.

First of all, losing weight fast isn't a good idea if you want to be healthy for the rest of your life. If you want to lose weight, it will take time and you have to be patient.
If you drink soda, you might want to drink diet soda or stop drinking pop altogether. If you have access to a gym or have a treadmill at home, it might help you if you walked at least 30 minutes every day and lift some weights since muscle makes your metabolism faster. Since you're 14, you might want to join a sports team at school or a local sports team. If you have access to a swimming pool during warm weather, swimming is a great way to exercise. If you really want to lose weight, you should eat a healthier diet (lots of fruits and vegetables, low fat and low carb foods) and drink lots of water.
Good luck with the weight loss! I hope this helps!

The best way to lose weight is to move somehow. To either start taking walks every day, doing something you enjoy for at least 30 minutes like riding a bike or dancing, anything that will make you move for awhile. Will your parents buy a dvd for you? If they will-you can go to collagevideo.com and view some workout videos you can use at home. They have everything from dancing, to tae bo, kickboxing, aerobics, weight training. They have it all.
Good for you for wanting to get after it! If there's anything I can help you with, let me know.
