When I say that, I mean laying outside at 11 AM for an hour in Miami, Florida. I tan a couple times a week in my backyard. After only 15 minutes, between the humidity and the summer heat, I'm not only darker, but exhausted and literally drenched with sweat. I'm not the kind of person who normally sweats because of the heat, only when I'm doing some kind of really tough exercise. Also, I'll weigh myself a while later and find that I'm down a pound. It could be water weight, but it seems to me that if my body is sweating as much as it is, I must be burning at least a few calories. A real, reasonable answer will get best answer.

Ohhh. I hope so. Sorry. Not really. It may seem like you loose weight while tanning and you will but its mostly water weight because if its hot outside you sweat when you sweat you loose weight. It may burn a few calories, but not enough to make a diffrence at all. If you really want to burn calories go shopping. I know it sounds stupid but 30 minutes of shopping burns 90 calories and hour burns 180 and hour and a half burn 270 and so on and so on. You never knew shopping could be an exercise did you?

No, sun tanning burns no calories. It does make your skin age faster so you will look older. Sweating is not the same as losing weight, you are only losing water. How about hoping in the water and swimming a little. You will cool off and burn some calories.

Part of my daily exercise to end at the pool burning in the sun. It definitely burns calories. Rise in core temp and heart rate mean more cals burned. Wish there was a way to tell the exact amount burned

Your body might be burning a few calories because its trying to cool down but nothing to see a difference in your body or weight. Also the weight difference is probably water weight so make sure you stay hydrated.

its pretty much water weight, you may be burning a few calories trying to cool, but nothing that will make you lose weight in the long term. you are tired and sore because you are severely dehydrated. You need to drink more water...

Nah, you are not burning calories or fat (any more than you would if you were indoors, that is).
It's water weight. When you sweat, you lose water and get dehydrated.
Even after you work out, you are supposed to drink enough water to make up for the water your body sweated out. It's the same anytime you sweat.
If you are dehydrated for long enough, your body will begin to RETAIN water and you can become bloated.
