Having belief in a God, but unsure of the specifics of God. What's the proper term? Other than 'confused'. *lol*

Would it be Deism or Theism, even though Deists hold the belief that God SPECIFICALLY doesn't interact with mankind and Theists believe that God does?

Is there a term that better fits this situation?

A theist is one who believes in at least one divine being. Someone who believes there is only one God is a monotheist. Someone who believes in several gods is a polytheist.

An agnostic is neither a theist nor an atheist. An agnostic believes it is impossible to know whether or not there is a God.

Deist is not a synonym for theist. A deist rejects revelation or authority as a source of belief, believing in God purely on rational grounds. The deists of the 17th and 18th century generally viewed God as the original creator of the universe and its laws but rejected the concept of God’s continuing involvement in creation.

The closest of these definitions to your situation would probably be a Deist. By rejecting all sources of revelation, a Deist would be unsure about the specifics of God.

With love in Christ.

I was raised as a Methodist, lost my faith, returned to God via a Pentecostal / Apostolic church, then started attending again the church in which I grew up. I don't consider myself labeled in any one religion. I simply consider myself a Christian. My "home" church has drasticly changed it's service format (no longer stuck in a lot of stodgy ceremony), and that appeals to my desire to freely worship. If I were you, I would speak to a few different pastors and/or preists for your answers. This forum is NOT the best place to learn what you need to know ... and, as any preacher will tell you -- find a Bible & read!

It is debatable whether you are a deist or an Agnosticist.

Agnosticism:

I'd throw out theism as it is blind belief that god created us. Deism differs only from agnosticism by a minute detail of which is only speculation of the existence of god.

Sounds pretty close to deism. Just keep doing your thing and don't be too worried about labels, anyway. Labels are only good for other people's convenience.
