My coworker's little girl will be 2 this weekend and a couple of weeks ago the mommy was using the potty when the baby said "my turn" so she put her on the toilet and she went #2.
My niece was almost 2 when she announced she wasn't wearing diapers any more.
When she is ready she might let you know, she already isn't enjoying the dirty diapers.

Greetings! It really sounds as if your daughter is ready to learn to be potty trained. You have waited until she is ready. You did not push her to use the potty, a HUGE mistake that many parents make.
A couple of people have mentioned that the toilet may be too big for her and she may be intimidated that she may fall in. This is actually possible if the toilet seat is not put back down.
A potty chair (for the short term) may be a good idea if she is scared of the big toilet, but only for the short term. Modeling is also a good idea (a few people mentioned that as well).
The bottom line (if you will pardon that pun), is that teaching her should be a very calm and relaxing time. If she feels stressed, it may take longer for her to be trained. Also, I cannot stress enough be calm when your child has accidents. Make sure wherever you go, you bring a change of clothes for her. Accidents can and will happen (in my classroom, I daresay that every child has had an accident at some point in the year...it happens to the best of them).
You are doing all the right things....BIG PROPS to you.
Take care.

>Any tips on how to get her to go at least once so she knows that it's a really good thing to go in the potty...
Let her run around with no diaper on (maybe with an oversized t-shirt on for modesty) ...when you "catch her in the act" grab her up and put her on the potty. Celebrate! "You did it! Wow, look at that pee in the potty! Good job!"
Remember, her little muscles may not be able to control the hold and release part just yet, she's still very young. But it sounds like you're a good mom with a keen sense or her timing, so it probably will be easy.

I remember those days. LOL. My youngest daughter is 5 now. I would sit on the potty while she sat on hers so she could see that mommy used the potty too. She refused to use the potty, but wanted to get big girl panties, so I let her pick out some, and told her she could wear them, but she had to use the potty if she did. She wore them, and had one accident in public. I was very understanding, and told her she had let mommy know before she had to go. She never used a diaper again, nor had any accidents after that. I had clean clothes in the car just in case.

Is the "big girl potty" a potty chair? If not, you need to get her one, because the regular toilet can be a bit scary at her age. She's showing an interest in wanting to use the potty so I'm sure before long, she'll be using it, just make sure it's the potty chair & she'll be more apt to use it, because she can reach it better.

she sounds like she is getting the idea of going on the potty. my daughter was like that when she was about 2 or 2.5 years old. i thought that she would be potty trained in a couple of months but she wasn't 100% ready. it's good that she is aware of what to do but it will take some time for her to make the connection 100%. hang in there. just encourage her to go when she wakes up from naps or first thing in the morning. once she does go successfully, praise her and give her a reward... i found that stickers on a chart really helped my daughter. good luck.

Sounds like is gearing up to learn to potty. I would bring her in with you when you go, show her how it is done. Also, sit her on the toilet one or twice a day so she gets the feel for it. Also, try putting her in panties and see how she does. Good luck!
