YES.. The Desert Eagle 10" 357Magnum would be an effective Whitetail Deer gun, and would easily take out even smaller game (As long as you aren't planning on anything left to eat...lol)

As informed earlier you need to check with the DNR in your home state area to make sure you can legally hunt Deer with a handgun, in the areas you wish to hunt. Most states that allow handgun hunting require a 357 Magnum or larger caliber, and a pistol barrel length of 6" or more.Good Luck!

Yes but the .357 Magnum should be considered the minimum handgun round for deer. It should work well so long as you keep your shots short, say not beyond 50 yards. I'm guess you're trying the 3-5-7 because you don't have access to a .44 Mag. The .44 would be a better choice, though.

And I have to disagree with one of the other posters (as much as I usually respect other's opinions); the .357 even out of a 20" carbine barrel will not approach the .30-30. The bore n sectional density aren't even close and can't be mitagated by doubling the barrel length from ten to twenty inches. However, a 20" carbine would give you a slight edge over even a 10" barrel. It won't turn it into a .30-30 or even a .44 Mag. though.

Best.

It would work, but I'd rather have a Rossi M-92 SRC carbine in .357 Magnum. It doesn't weigh much more, it holds as many cartridges as the Desert Eagle, or maybe more, has a longer sight radius with a 20" barrel, you can use cast bullets in the rifle, and if you reload, you can get very near .30-30 WCF velocities and energies.

FWIW, I think the 6" barrel would do just as well a t 35-50 yard ranges and be easier to handle.

.357 is a beautiful round for deer, however most hunters that I know hunt with revolvers, in .44 mag. but I guess it's all about state law too.
However range could be an issue also, scope out the area or area's where you are planning too hunt.
If there's alot of brush I would kick it up a with .44mag and w/desert eagle It's all of a matter of barrel and mag. change.
10 inch barrel is a plus!

Using heavier jacketed bullets in the 160 to 200 grain range can be very adequet for taking on deer and other medium size animals. I would personally prefer a .41 or .44 Mag for this purpose.

Generally yes, 1st check on your local regulation to find out what requirements there are for handgun hunting in your area.

I think it has a decent amount of stopping power given the right load of course!

Small game, I hate to say it but you should try and read some of the FBI bulletins.
