The medical field is definately in need of Nurses everywhere. The long hours and the crazy shifts makes it difficult on many families and the work can be hard as well. So, yes there is a need for qualified Nurses in Hawaii.

I work at the largest Hospital on Oahu, and yes there is a nursing shortage state wide. If you are thinking of moving here to work as an RN, I suggest you try get a Traveling Nurse Temporary contract first. You may like working here, but decide the cost of living is too high. A traveling nurse contract for say, 3 months, will give you a chance to see how you may like it here and whether it would be worth it to take a permanent position. Good luck.

Yes, my friend's wife is a nurse and she was just mentioning that there is a shortage here in Hawaii. The pay is great, but the living expenses are horrendous!!! Can't quite complain about being in paradise though...

In response to the suggestion of travel nursing I work for Travel Nurse Across America, at www.nurse.tv. I LOVE the people that I work for, and they are wonderful about everything. Good luck!
