You can really make a deliucious and heartwarming casserole straight from you cupboard (and freezer).

Check out your cabinet. You probably have some soup cans lying around. And most likely you have a can or two of tuna and a few cans of vegetables.

Look at your rices and pasta. How much do you have? A few boxes of rice and a bag or so of pasta?

Take a peek onto the shelf with all your oils, sauces, marinades, and the such.

Now look into your vegetable drawer in your fridge. Most likely you have a few stray veggies that will go bad in a day or so.

You also will most likely have a half empty bag of shredded cheese somewhere, too.

Now check the freezer. You might have some frozen veggies or chicken or something.

Now begins our journey to casserole land. The possibilities are almost endless! With all the knowledge you have gained to the daunting tasks of raiding the kitchen, you are ready to begin cooking.

Decide which of the soups you will use. Maybe you would want cream of broccoli, or maybe you want split pea. The choice is up to you. (Hint: if you have alot of different soups, check the expiration dates. This should help you decide what to use up first.

Empty the can into a pot and let cook while you decide what else to use.

Now its time to decide what can of veggies you are going to use. Make sure it will blend nicely into the flavors of the soup. If you made split pea, some diced carrots or green beans will pair up nicely. (again, check experation dates. You really cant go wrong with pairing up flavors of canned vegitables.)

Dran the can of all liquid, then add it to the soup. Start chopping up any of the stray veggies from your fridge, but dont add it to the soup.

Start boiling your pasta or rice. Take out whatever marinade or sauces you are going to use. The soup should be thickening. If not, add a teaspoon of flour to speed up the process.

Take out a skillet and put the vegetables you chopped earlier in it. Add whatever sauce you are using and saute. I enjoy a mixture of soy sauce, sesame oil, and worchestire sauce. Add any seasonings you want and any of the frozen meat or veggies you found.

If you like tuna, add it into the soup. If you dont, leave it out. Especially if it does not match the flavors.

If the soup still is not thickening, add tomato paste, more flour, whipping cream, or any other thickening agent.

When the pasta or rice is done, drain and spread in nonstick 8x8 pan. Pour thickened soup over it, add the sauted vegetables, sprinkle with cheese, and bake in a 400* oven for 10-15 minutes or until brown and bubbly.

You cant go wrong with this. If you dont want to experiment with new flavors, pair up ingrediants that you know go together well. Enjoy!

If you mean cold food, I'd suggest a pasta salad with chicken in it. The simplest such is to dice and brown the chicken in a skillet, then add a little water and let it simmer about 15 minutes. Check for doneness by splitting a large piece. if it's tender and white, it's done. Run the chicken under cold water if you're in a hurry; otherwise, set it in the fridge to cool. Once the chicken's cooling off well, cook the pasta as directed on the package and rinse under cold running water to cool it off when it's done. When both chicken and pasta are cold, mix them together in a big bowl and pour bottled Italian dressing over the mix. Use just enough to coat everything without leaving puddles at the bottom of the bowl. Many people also enjoy cherry tomatoes or chopped green peppers in this salad.

If your weather's cold, brown a pound of minced beef or turkey, add a can of diced tomatoes, a can of diced potatoes and simmer for 30 minutes. When it's simmered for 25 minutes, add a can of (or a brick of frozen) peas. Stir in and heat through. Serve with hot buttered (American) biscuits or savory scones or dumplings.

Make your self an omelet. Add what ever you have in the fridge. I like to nuke a potato in the micro and top it with cheese or even butter salt and lots of pepper. Some times I'll do a ramen. I just add some veggies and maybe some diced ham. Either way it will be nice and warm and filling.

My choice would be some kind of Chili Hot Pot:
Red kidney beans, or a mix of whatever (Pinto, Black, Chick).
Some kind of tomato base (Sauce, Crushed, Stewed, etc.).
Whatever onions, peppers, garlic, you can find.
Throw in any cooked/browned meat, even canned tuna.
Add your favourite spices: chili, paprika, cayenne, etc.
If you're short on content; make up with pasta or rice.
Add any veggies: Peas, Corn, Chopped Carrot, etc.

Canned soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. For the grilled cheese, butter two slices of bread, heat a skillet and put one slice butter side down, cheese on it, other slice butter side up. Cook until brown, flip, cook until brown.
