lol...my mother does that all the time. Sometimes ending with "whatever the hell your name is..."

I sometimes call my son by his dads name (and we're divorced).

Science has yet to break the code of the exasperated, non accurate name calling mother syndrome, but I'm sure they're working on it.

I'm an adult now, and a wife and mom, and what you mention drove me nuts growing up. I was the fifth kid out of six, and the fourth girl -- so often either my mom or dad went through THREE names before they hit on mine!
We only have one son, but I used to often call my son by my younger brother's name - and lately, I mix up his and my husband's name. Gosh, it has to be age... or hormonal... or just a very full filing cabinet upstairs!

Confusion.......
they know who I am talking to or yelling at.

Seriously, when my boys come back from a visit with their dad they sometimes call me dad by accident and sometimes they slip and call my boyfriend dad, too. It's just accidental slip of the tongue.

Have you ever called a girlfriend or boyfriend by an ex's name? It is a slip of the tongue but not overlooked as easily.

It could be worse, George Forman named all his kids George Forman .... I guess he doesn't have this problem.

I think because as a mom, you have so many things going on at once...you have the food burning on the stove, stuzy is on your leg screaming and crying, the dog is outside barking...and little joe is in the bathroom flushing down everything you can get your hands on.......you want to yell to Joe to get his but down here but you end up calling him Buster cause you want the damn dog to shut up as well lol

I have no idea and I swore I would not do the same thing my parents did to me and my sisters. Well I do it from time to time and I have to say it really sucks when your trying to be all stern like and you flub with the kids name.

Because having kids fries your brain! I'm constantly mixing up my daughter's, husband's, and pets' names!
