What I meant by "infertile" are the ones who are naturally infertile such as the gingers, torties, and calicos.

No. fixed cats drop the desire to reproduce. Females won't get "in heat" at all. SO if there's a problem there, call the vet.

What is less likely to curb is the male's tendency toward marking his territory--fixed or not.

not sure what you mean when you say infertile cats like the gingers etc. All cats are furtile unless they have been neutered or have a physical illness.
If they are neutered then no they don't come into season or have the same behavours like yowling and spraying etc.
