You don't need a bell.
Other toys are much better than bells.
Bells can actually be dangerous if the bird gets ahold of the clapper inside and ingests it.

Well.......My female albino parakeet (budgie) is called DingDing and the reason is because she absolutely LOVES BELLS! She has them in her cage, her outside playpen, all around the room and where the bells are so is DingDing and she rings them all the time. She's happy all the time too and she gets to fly outside of her cage, maybe you could try that, let her have a fly, the bells are a good training aid also. Put a bell in her cage and see if she loves it, then you take the bell out and see if she follows it. What's the use you ask......it's a stimulation for them, they like the sounds, it's an activity, budgies have brilliant minds and need stuff to do. I hope you interact with your bud. I love mine to bits.

My only question to you would be-How do you know your bird is happy?
Birds are intelligent creatures , and need diversion ( play ) to be really happy. They also tire of the same old toys, just like you would tire of being thrown into solitary confinement for the rest of your life with only one book to read!
A loving bird owner will give it's bird toys, and then change them every few months. You can even keep the old toys to give back to her next year, as long as her toys can be changed periodically.
And before you ask, yes it may take him a few days to get used to the bell or any other new toy, But he will love them after that.
Please treat your bird like a beloved member of your family, and not a prisoner in solitary.

It's a toy, for them to play with Mine have several bells 2 in thier cage and a few more on thier play gym
My Male will sit by one of the bells and chirp/ sing a song and incorprates the bell into his chirping/ song
If you want this budgie to Like you and come to you and chatter to you, i suggest staying away from mirrors, They're not the best thing in the world for all birds, yes some like them others get really mad when they chitter/ chat/ or even talk to thier reflection and the reflection doesn't speak back to them or respond in any way And i've read many stories where peoples birds HURT thierself after attacking the mirror because it would not respond to them
You said your bird is 'happy in its cage" you do let your bird out of the cage don't you ? Birds need out of cage time
Mine come out when i wake up * during school it's 5 30 am/ summer time its around 9am* and go back into thier cage when they're ready or when i go to bed which ever comes first and that's usally around 9pm on school nights and 10-midnight during the summer and weekends
they'll go in thier cage during the day to eat and drink but other then that they're out playing on thier play gym or flying around my room playin a game with eachother- they're clipped so they can't fly long distances but they don't let that bother them they'll still fly around and play games with eachother

they like it like they would like any other toy, but especially because its shiny and makes noise. they LOVE shiny things, and mine actually play more with the metal chain that holds the bell in the cage than the bell part. they also LOVE things that make noise. I put some cat toys in there- the little balls with jingle bells in them, and they go nuts with those, picking them up and dropping them in their cage. You can also get rope toys, they like to shred the rope apart. Just get different toys to keep their interest up and you should rotate them out every so often too.

Birds love entertainment!!They tend to get lonely if by themselves.Try to put yourself in the birds place.Well, you would be pretty bored!!They like things that make noise, like bells, ladders, millet, mirrors ,a swing. You can also train them to ring the bell, and many different other tasks.Have fun,but also make sure your bird has fun too.

the bell ringing can produce a classical conditioning in your parakeet...it was introduced by Ivan Pavlov with its dog...it is a great help, not only being a toy but it can make the two of you much closer and learn her some nice tricks...like wat Ivan did, he ring the bell first then put a dog food...after how many instances with the same method, everytime he rings the bell, the dog salivate...do that with your birds...and parakeets do love toys...

Buy your bird toys. It doesn't have to be a bell, but birds need toys.
