haha scary to imagine .would anything progress in an almost all atheist world like for example science considering the majority of the greatest scientists were Christian.Would they help the needy with food, shelter, clothing, rebuilding destroyed buildings etc etc,Would they form different atheist groups and go to war with each other ( like south park depicted in one of their episodes haha) when they ran out of people to harass & belittle?

Well considering that not all charity's are based on religion, Charitable causes would not go out the door, if no religion exhisted then the money people donate to their church all the time would go to other causes so maybe cancer would have been a thing of the past already? Maybe a.i.d.s cases would be a thing of the past, most of the destroyed buildings would not be destroyed because religion is the #1 cause of war!
|The government would also function a little better since bills and laws that should be passed would have already passed since there would be no religious mobs of protesters arguing that they would not vote for the politician again if he/she voted the opposite of what they believe in. Does that answer your question?

John Lennon seems to have become some kind of newfound hero to some of the posters on here. Maybe he's the fundy atheists "god". Yup. John Lennon was someone whose example is to be emulated. A real "moral standard" to measure what the atheists call their idea of a "sane and rational" world. Real winner, there, atheists. Excellent choice.

Many of the world's greatest scientists/ philosophers came before Christianity, or were Christian by default (prior to the nineteenth century, you were excommunicated, burned, tortured, chased from your home, etc. if you were openly non-Christian in the western world).

Einstein, the greatest in my opinion, was agnostic.

Also, be aware that no one has ever gone to war citing atheism as a reason. There would probably still be wars, but they would not be over that particular belief.

The greatest scientists were christians? Have you lost so much of your knowledge of history that you can't remember that it was CHRISTIANS who used to kill people simply for saying the world wasn't flat? They called them "heretics" :). Seriously, are you on crack?

Would atheists help the needy with food, shelter, clothing, etc? Have you ever heard the terms "secular humanism"? Take a moment to look it up.

If we lived in a completely atheist world, there would be no religious groups trying to legislate their beliefs into government, and we'd be able to focus on actual social issues and not catering the "faithful majority".

An atheist world would probably look just like this one, except they'd have less insane-sounding rationalizations for why their country is at war with some other country.

(The urge to go to war is built right into humanity. It makes no difference whether they're atheists or believe in some deity.)

No, we would spend our time progressing science and humanity instead of wasting our time with God, we would donate our moneys toward research for cures instead of relying on an invisible man. I'm an atheist and I still help the needy. I'm a blood donar, organ donar, I donate my spare food and clothes, and help out at the hospital in my free time. I'm still a good person despite my lack of faith.

We would not go to war in the name of Atheism but as human beings we would still go to war once in a while...

Now was that so scary?

My son is an athiest, where I am a believer (not Christian). He believes his purpose in life is to create a world better for the generations to come. He clearly believes the world would be better without religious strife. He has a point.

Laws and rules (which he won't accept as initially spiritually based) will keep athiests "honest". I find it hard to argue that a government run with a more libertarian philosophy can't be totally a bad thing.

There would be a lot less Churches. That's about it.

Fellow Atheists, science is not exclusively atheist.

Strange. I read almost the exact same statement not long ago, but where you've used the word "atheist', the other person used the word "religious" or "christian".

Some would do evil some would do good just like all humans. They would have to come up with their code of conduct based on something other than the bible.
