I've been around lots of people who tried all kinds of things, myself included - back in my drinking days. The only person I knew who seemed able to cover it up reeked so strongly of after shave (or cologne, or whatever -- I think he rinsed his mouth with it) that you didn't actually smell the booze but the fact that he screwed up so much at work and it got progressively worse was not as easy to mask.
You don't necessarily smell the *type* of booze, but the actual alcohol. You breathe it out, which is why breathalyzers work.

good vodka really has no odor so stick with the good stuff and you should be fine
