Okay. They have been saying they will legalize marijuana for a while now. I don't understand why. They want everyone to stop doing drugs right? They are illegal. So why change there opinion? Just because they haven't completely tackled the issue why give in? Marijuana can often lead to higher drugs.

I don't think they will ever fully legalize marijuana. Maybe make it available as a prescription medicine in pill form, but never fully legal. Anyway the arguement that pot leads to harder drugs is fake. Why? Because you could say the same thing about alcohol too. Or maybe cigarettes. I guarantee you that a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE majority of people that have tried pot were already cigarette smokers. Couldn't you ban tobacco using the same arguement?

I don't want or expect a best answer for this, but want to note a problem with your question. It's not wrong, but when you say "marijuana can often lead to higher drugs", what are you really saying? Couldn't you substitute tobacco or alcohol for marijuana in that sentence? A drug user is going to start with something. If I wanted to, I'm sure I could prove that food leads to drug use. Every drug user started by eating. I'm 60 years old and not a smoker, drinker or drug user. The reason some people think marijuana should be legalized is that it has proven medical benefits for the results of chemotherapy and glaucoma. It does not make people violent and it is not addictive physically. It doesn't make any difference in my life, but the war on drugs is expensive and ineffective. Marijuana should not be the prime target, but hard drugs should. However, nations like Columbia and Afghanistan wouldn't be producing cocaine and heroin except for the heavy market in the Western countries. We are definately our own worse enemy in that respect. I say legalize pot and tax it to decrease the deficit my grandkids will have to deal with. We need to find some way to make money for the government that doesn't involve income taxes, sales taxes or property taxes. Nobody gets high on pot and robs a liquor store. Excuse me while I go buy stock in Hersey's, though. Those "munchies" will be a boon for the candy companies.

I think they should make it legal. It was grown on this earth so why the hell not. Some states you can smoke an walk around. An you know how much the government would make of it just like cigarettes, an liquor. Why would it make a difference it's all about how much money they're making. And weed isn't that bad they use it in hospitals for glaucoma. An if you can't handle your limits on the drugs you do that's your fault. You wanna die than so be it.

Who are "they"? The only chatter I've seen about legalizing marijuana is on boards like these.
(Not including medical marijuana which is a specialized instance of use with strict legal guidelines in the states that allow it.)

Only people I hear talking about it being made legal are those in Chat rooms. Even the "medical marijuana" is not protected from the Feds. Get caught with it and you go to jail.

marijuana use has been excepted by most of Americas general population. It's not going away, it is considered a soft drug no worse than drink a little beer or having a glass of wine. If it were legalized, it's quality could be assured, sold as alcohol is only to adults and be highly taxed.
Good luck

I would suggest that you delete this question and rewrite it, replacing each instance the pronoun "they" with a specific noun. Your question is neither coherent nor answerable as written.
