It is directed at Christians?

I guess many of the answers prove the question?

I believe mostly, that if you look at the answers, Christianity is the most tolerant of the religions represented. You can tell the true Christians. But if one person finds Jesus from Y! Answers, it is all worth it!

I would guess that since there is no unity among Christians, it is easy for those with nothing better to do, to use that rift as a way to divide an conquer, the division is already there, so half of the work is done for them. If there was a united front, where all Christians agreed, there would be no way that trolls could upset anyone, nor win any "battles". The guidelines, whether we like them or not, are there for obvious reasons, and the trolls know that they can upset people without violating those codes. It is not right, but that is how they get away with it. And seriously, do you really come here to get verification as to your destiny in the life hereafter? Come on, this is not the place for that. Don't take this place for what it isn't, an actual discussion board. It is questions and answers. Lighthearted information seeking and "enlightenment". It is not written in stone, nor is it meant to be taken as law.

Greetings :)

I read the question about Buddhism that seemed to spark this question, and I admit I was confused. You seemed to take offense by it. However, I saw no hate in her question, merely a statement from her own experiences.

I think that is what it all boils down to here: we easily see what we want to see, or what we expect to see; it is a struggle to see through another's eyes.

As you see a lot of hate in these answers to your question, I see honesty and frustration. Do you ever read some of the poison that Christians direct at atheists, pagans, Muslims, etc.? Seriously, much of it is just hateful, cruel, preachy, intolerant garbage.. there are days I turn off my computer and think, "I didn't know I was such a loser until I came to Y!A R&S"

As you are on my friends list, look at the recent questions posed by a certain "Lady Saphira" in my Q&A.. in fact, check out her Q&A history, and tell me.. what should the atheist and pagan reaction be to her "questions"? The smart answer is, ignore her. But many people will be compelled to respond to her hate in kind.

This is not to say that Christians don't get attacked, or that the attacks are always in retaliation. But, we might ask ourselves (all of us, of any faith or none) what we do to illicit such attacks? Often the answer will be nothing. Some people just want to be jerks, and on the internet, it is so easy. Just as often the answer will be that we were too offensive, too insistent, too angry, too unfeeling. This applies to everyone here (except a select few who are always kind, like Pangel and Ramjet). There are several people on here who absolutely froth at the mouth at the intolerance and arrogance of atheists, and yet they themselves pose questions and answers that spout pure bile.

To answer your question, it is not ok, on either side. But we need to be honest with ourselves and look at the cause as well as the effect.

I am afraid a few think this is true.

One atheist sent me mail telling me that neither I nor any other believer is worthy of anything but disgust and disrespect and that we deserve any abuse we get, all JUST BECAUSE we are Christians.

Some Christians have sent me (a Christian) hate mail because I do not have some of the same views as they do.

There are bad behaviors on both sides.

As a Buddhist, I have been told by Christians on YA that I am an idol worshipper (though Buddha is not a God) and that I would burn in hell among other things. I have nothing against Christianity, although I must admit that Catholicism teaches religious intolerance, I experienced it first hand as an ex-Catholic. Intolerance and accusations are not exclusive to Chritianity on YA, we all get our share.

Actually much of the hatred I have seen directed as Christians on here (especially Catholics) is spewed by other Christians. I don't care what anyone else believes as long as they don't use some illogical argument or threat of eternal damnation to get me to convert.
To prove my point, CJ (a Christian) responding to a question about Catholicism." Catholics are not saved Christians. This is one of countless verses in the Bible that show it. "
And when "Christians" post idiotic questions such as http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AukAB0WltKFo6Hj1vZ3rPXnd7BR.?qid=20070902124631AAzCv3q , they are not showing your peaceful religion in the best light.

Hate doesn't seem to need a reason. The answers you seem to be getting have little to do with history, math ( 70 centuries?), or any other part of reality as long as hate can be voiced. It is a sorry state of the world.

You are absolutely correct! Atheists can call Christians stupid all day long, but that's fine. Muslims can say The Holy Bible is corrupt and lie about Jesus, but that's fine. Pagans say we burned them and stole from them (lol), but that's fine. But Christians are not allowed to speak The Truth! Well, let them say Christianity is a religion of hate all they want. I will always know that God is Love and Jesus spread Love.

I've never heard that, "religion of hate" One bad X gives all the X's a bad name, just as all bad Y's give all the Y's a bad name. The Z's just want to get along no matter what the beliefs are. Can't we all just get along?

Judging from some of the responses, it should be evident that atheists are too ignorant and stupid to realize that THEY are the ones who need to go away from a place that, by its very nature, obviously excludes them on all levels, that being R&S. It's a lack of home training, or something. No manners, you know??
