They say this is an "experiment" .... Experiment to what? See how many people on U.S. roads will be killed from these drivers? Experiment to see how many more illegal immigrants they can haul in? Experiment to see how many more times the Americans can be slapped in the face without striking back?

Do you agree that we should NOT open our border up to these Mexican truckers? Is the Teamsters Union the ONLY one that sees the harm in this?? What will this do to the US Highways?

I am with you 100% and I'm Canadian heh. The unfortunate part is no one is even aware of what is going on. Unfortunately congress and Parliament are both ignoring this issue about the SPP.

Considering 9/11 and issues with borders this comes to me as a surprise, especially since there has been a rise in illegal immigrants and who knows how many terrorists and drugs can also now be safely trucked across.

Cheap labour will also hurt the middle class. It is very unfortunate that government only seem to make decisions which profit big companies.

This "pilot program" was slated to start this Saturday (yesterday), however thanks to injunctions filed by the Teamsters and OOIDA it has at least been pushed back to this Thursday. No, the Teamsters are not the only ones that see the harm in this. Most professional drivers (and yes, we are professionals) and OOIDA (the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association) have been speaking out against this for years.

Part 391.11 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations require that drivers be able to read and speak English. Now, of course we all know that all of the Mexican drivers will conveniently "No hable English" when they are caught driving over hours, over weight, speeding, or when they kill people.

This program is just another step by another President to push forward the NAU (North American Union). For those that are quick to place this entire issue on Bush's feet (and no, he is not blameless in this, and should be held accountable) remember, it was Clinton that signed NAFTA and CAFTA, which opened the door for this program, and many of us have been predicting this since 1993.

Call your Senators and members of Congress and let them know how you feel about this travesty. Remember, the lives that you save may be those of you or your family.

I'm with you 100%.
I've contacted my representatives to let them know my displeasure.
In the mean time, if this does in fact come to pass, we should take the opportunity to use the Mexican trucks to take the illegals back across the border, thereby solving that little problem.

God knows we must not strain diplomatic relation between the USA and Mexico. Otherwise they might stop exporting their poverty but their drugs as well. This is all about big business in both USA and Mexico padding their bottom lines at the expense of the USA citizens and our safety
