What would have been his best strategy AT THAT POINT? Don't answer about what he should have done before seeing the officer's identification, I'm interested in how he could have handled his problem to his advantage.

If he would have "handled himself" he wouldn't be in this problem. He should have just plead not guilty and let it get handled by an expensive attorney.

Well at that point, he should have known that even if he pleaded guilty to a lesser offense. Being who he was, it would come out in the news's.Therefore he should have denied all, pleaded Innocent, and let his lawyer fight it in a court of law. Myself not knowing all the facts and not being there, I believe he would have been found innocent, with any fair Lawyer. However hindsight is twenty twenty, and being under pressure he made the wrong decision and paid for it.

"How should Larry Craig have handled himself in the restroom after the cop identified himself?"
Oh, my! This is just too easy. ;-)

I would of flushed all my toilet paper down the drain and said I was trying to get the toilet paper passed over, discreetly. Or just deny, deny, deny. I definatly would not have plead guilty.
