Service Pack 2 for Windows is stuck! Why is it doing this?

Question

When my friend installs Service Pack 2, it was saying it was finalizing the install but didnt budge for 45 minutes, like it was stuck on that screen, what happened and what can we do to fix the problem?

that happened to me too when i was upgrading. check to see if there are other windows (in my case it stopped because there was another window in the background that i didn't see, and i had to click something to continue). as soon as i did, it continued.
