Is there really much of a difference? I always go running and jogging with my brother. My best friend says that jogging makes you lose muscles before the fat but running burns the fat only... Is that all true? I wanna know because I'm just afraid my friend is giving me the wrong information because he is trying to act smart or hes trying to sabotage me and my bro. The reason why I think hes trying to sabotage us is because his father always yells at him and calls him a fat bear and tells him that he should be like my brother and I. So yeah can you guys give me all the info you know and tell me whats the difference really?

I've always thought of the difference between running and jogging like this; running is out of the aerobic heart rate while jogging is withing the aerobic heart rate. To figure the heart rate take 220 subtract your age and multiply the answer by 65% and 80%. The area between 65% and 80% is your target heart rate if jogging. Both jogging and running are good for you because running teaches your body to burn fat at higher levels of intensity while jogging within your heart rate burns fat and is a total body workout. I hope that helps.

Jogging and running are pretty much the same thing. Jogging generally refers to a slower pace, but it is still running. The distance covered and the time spent running are more of an indicator of calories burnde then speed. There is some training effect in speed work, but as far as muscle building, both slow and faster running are about equal. Exercise of any kind will build muscle, not diminish it, so your friend is either mistaken or is giving you wrong information.

sounds like some need to read a few really good exercise physiology books. first of all we burn fat 24/7, there is no fat burning zone when exercising. in fact if you run faster than is comfortable your burning mostly sugar, but you still burn some fat.

ONly the percentages change, if you are in the 60-70 percent of your max heart rate your burning about 70 percent of your caloires as fat and rest as glycogen (sugar). if you are at say around 80 percent or higher of max heart rate then your probably at 50 50. but overall you still burn more fat caloires at the 50 50 range here then the 70 30 percent range.

of course there are variations based on fitness level health status, if your asthmatic and your control is not really good when you exercise then your burning mostly sugar because you need oxygen in sufficient quantity to burn fat effeciently.

You lose muscle for fuel use only after about 1-2 hours of exercise in the 70 percent or higher max heart rate range. this occurs because when your glycogen levels are low your body still needs sugar (sugar is the catalyst or rocket fuel that sparks the fat, which is the log which burns slowly) and muscles can be broken down to make sugar. fat does produce some but not fast enough for a body in action.

now for the difference of jogging and running?that has been debated on running boards for as long as I have been reading them. you can define it any way you want. for me jogging is when I do like a walky shuffle, because of being overweight, but running is like flying but it hurts my legs to much, so I stick to my walgy. Walky joggy I do. it is like I am stuck between deciding to walk fast or jog. It is quite comfortable pace and I can get my heart rate up a bit and maintain it pretty long before I have to go back to a walk.

RRRR

Running is like walking, except there is never both feet on the ground at the same time. Jogging is running just slow paced. Sprinting is running as fast as you can.

actually to burn fat you have to rise your heart rate to fat burning zone which is more likely done with jogging. running rises it a lot to cardio zone. you have to do it for average of 45min 4-6 times a week - the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat, but never go over 60min because you do more bad than good that way -burn muscle.
if you run for 45min you will burn fat and muscle.
do some weight training a few times a week - the more muscle you have to faster metabolism (your body will burn more calories)

think of it like this .
Your friend is being abused by the way , so he's very analytical .
don't get mad at him , you are probably being abused as well , by ur parents because they are not telling you that your friend is not such a bad person , it's his father who's judging him and making him feel like sh##. by coverin up that info , your parents are doing the worst thing in the world , to you guys.

anyway, back to the point .
listen . .your friend wasn't lying

Running - imagine a person running , Everybody you see on tv Runnign at pretty huge speeed has muscles bulging out from their Calves and biceps ..

Now think of jogging - everyone you see or your image is of some OLd guy tryin to run , but can't because he has no muscles , so he settles on Jogging , the more slow paced one of both .

----THE REST IT UP TO YOU .

don't judge anybody.
