im in rotc and when we do pt the running always gets me. im trying to make sure i run everyday but i dont know how to figure out the distance. is there a way that i can ballpark it so i could at least have some sort of benchmark?

oh also. i have a treadmill but it doesnt tell me how far ive run, so yeah i need a way to find out.

Use an online site like http://www.mapmyrun.com or similar that use google maps to plot out routes that you run, the site gives a very accurate distance. If you're running on an unmapped route (trail running etc.) then click on either hybrid or satelite view to use satelite photos to map your route.

On the treadmill does it tell you what speed you're running? If so record the time you were running and your speed and mulitply them to work out the distance.

you could drive over a certain route , use your trip odometer to measure the distance and then run that same route. The distance will be close, though not necessarily exact. You can use the time it takes you to run that route as a ballpark treadmill figure.

The cheapest way to do it would be to use a website like mapmyrun.com to plan out your route. This will tell you exactly how far you have run and its free.

borrow a GPS phone or receiver from somebody. and walk out a good route, and use landmarks (houses, trees, or bring a brick) as your mile markers.

lol,run a mile around a track and count your steps....then run your route counting your steps,then you wont need any fancy gadgets like a gps.
