how many kids do you ideally want?

I agree with you! I have one child, it's enough for me. It's so nice to hear from someone who is completely satisifed with one child. Half the time I feel like I need to validate my answer to others who frown upon our decision to just have one. We are very happy & content as a family of 3.

I grew up in a very large family (parents were divorced and both remarried; stepfather alone is one of thirteen, so the number of cousins is amazing!) and always wanted a large family of my own.

When I was in intermediate school, I really wanted twelve kids; the number has decreased some since then with my aging and realization of how expensive children are. I still have my heart set on at least four children, but my fiance isn't certain yet as to whether he wants them, and I'm stuck in a desperate baby-wanting mode right now that has me ready to take whatever I can get. :(

I used to want 4 when I was in my 20. I had one while in my early 30 and now I think I would like one more but don't know if it will happen

That's a hard question. I have three children, but I think I'd have one or two more if kids weren't so expensive. Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like without any children, or if I only had one. Guess I think the more the merrier, as long as you can take care of them.

I had wanted 4 or 5, but circumstances have prevented that. I have 2 wonderful children and our family is complete.
