Everyone has there opinion on the way it comes out after boiling it but, as someone that always does it I would say go for it.I actually prefer to boil it so it don't take so long to cook on the grill just make sure you don't over cook it about 15 minutes is usually good,I take and insert a knife after 15 minutes and, if there is still quite a bit of blood then I cook it for 20min.

The size of the chicken you are going to boil also depends on how long you cook it too.

Then once they are done put them on the grill and the sauce you want. once again don't over cook the chicken, about 10 minutes is usually good but you will find what you think works best over time as you do it and how long it takes for it to be done the way you like it :)

PS.The sauce I use is Jack Daniels #7 sauce.

Always wash your chicken with water an salt.
For a whole chicken to stay moist you have to keep putting moisture in the bird.

Being from the south (Alabama) we love to drink an think everything we eat needs a drink.

My best receipt is after cleaning your chicken.
Get a old coke can (pour the coke out) cut the top off. Or use a beer can and pour the beer in a bowl to save for later cut the top off and pour the beer back in the can.
Place the chicken over the can (inside the cavity.
Rub with olive oil and then apply any seasoning you want.
Put your yard bird on the grill and let the chicken get drunk.

The best thermometer is Chef's thermometer I have found any dummy can read it. But it goes from Very Rare, Rare, Medium, Medium Well, Well, Pork/Poultry. And it lights up when the temp is correct. Have fun with your cookout

No, I definitely wouldn't boil it it will give it a rubbery consistency. However, I have had great success applying a dry rub and precooking in the oven in a baking dish at 400 F, for about 30-45 minutes (until the chicken is not quite done is about right). It cuts down on the cooking time on the grill, the chicken stays very moist, and you still get that great char on the grill after applying the BBQ sauce.

I do that.
I will boil for about 20 minutes.
In the water I also put some garlic, onions, celery and carrot.
They give a good flavor to the chicken and I strain and save the chicken broth to use in another recipe.
Now cooking your chicken on the barbie, you won't have the problem of under cooked chicken.
One meat two separate events.
Chicken is wonderful.

Barbequing chicken that has been boiled sucks. It is less messy and cooler in the kitchen to microwave it. Add marinade, cover with plastic wrap and cook until almost done. Then barbeque.

If you're using charcoal, build a fire two coals high on one side, and one coal high on the other side. Start the chicken off on the two coals side, because it'll be hotter. After about 5 minutes, slide it over to the single coal side, and let it cook there for 7-10 minutes. Flip the chicken over, and repeat. If you're using a gas grill, just turn the heat up on one side to high, and the other side to medium, and do the same thing.

If you're using a meat thermometer, be careful that it doesn't touch the bone when you insert it, because it's hotter there and you'll get an inaccurate reading.

No, it just takes a while on the grill. just have to watch it. A good way make it be faster is to get like a beater.. (that you beat chicken or beef with) and pound on it to make it a little thinner and it wont take as long, that is up to you... i would atleast put some sort of oil or bbq sauce or some juice type stuff on it to keep it juicy inside... Just keep it moist. That is my opinion, that is what i do, comes out good all the time!

well it depends...... If its like a boneless breast(thin piece) no need to but if you are grilling chicken with the bone in ,its better to boil for a few minutes so as not to dry the meat out or serve it undercooked when grilling (getting people sick). Also don't put sauce on till lastfew minutes because it will burn too.

I've always had trouble grilling bone-in chicken...it cooks too fast on the outside and is undercooked on the inside. My solution was to season my chicken (I like using a powdered BBQ seasoning, or lemon juice and salt&pepper) and then wrapping it tightly in foil. After cooking it 15 minutes on each side, I unwrap it and brown it, adding my sauce. The foil steams it to insure it's cooked thoroughly.
